MAJOR Progress! Our 1970s Compound Backyard Clearing Begins!

What happens here

The owner begins operating the Kubota BX2370 sub-compact tractor with a front-end loader. Lacking prior experience with hydraulic machinery, he learns through trial and error, figuring out how the controls affect the bucket's movement and how to manage traction on the leaf-covered, uneven terrain. He discovers that pushing the bucket too deep reduces tire traction, requiring the use of the diff lock and strategic timing to get under saplings and pull them out.

Goal: Learn to operate the tractor and begin clearing smaller trees and brush.

in. I watched him run this thing around for a little bit. Just kind of got an idea of how it works. Up to this point in my life, I have never driven anything other than a lawn tractor. Uh I've never used anything with a hydraulic control or a bucket or anything like that. So, I don't even know which way you move the thing does what. None of that is automatic for me yet. So, I'm just kind of trying to figure out what happens if I do this, what happens if I do that. And realized pretty quickly that it will get stuck if you're trying to push it or if you have the bucket pushed into the ground too far, takes too much weight off of the tires and it just spins and I used the diff lock a lot. I'm starting to get the hang of it now and I realized that I come up to these little saplings, it doesn't have the power or the traction to just take it out just through momentum. I have to get under it and kind of time it so I get the leading edge of the bucket to cut into the ground right as it gets there because if I If I push it into the ground too quickly, it'll just stop the tractor. And then he told me to hit the tree up higher to push it over first cuz it could break some of the roots out and then it's easier to get it out of the ground. Which works. Works a lot better than the way I was doing it before.
