What happens here
Use channel-lock pliers to unscrew the coupling nuts on the P-trap. First, loosen the nut connecting the P-trap to the sink's tailpiece, then the nut connecting it to the horizontal drain pipe. Once both nuts are sufficiently loose, carefully remove the P-trap assembly.
