What happens here

Before starting any cutting, it is imperative to don all necessary personal protective equipment. This includes heavy-duty safety gloves to protect hands from abrasion and vibration, robust eye protection such as safety glasses or a full face shield, industrial-grade hearing protection like earplugs or earmuffs to mitigate the loud noise from the saw, and crucially, a high-quality dust mask or respirator (N95 or P100 recommended) to prevent inhalation of fine concrete dust. Concrete dust contains crystalline silica, which can cause severe respiratory diseases like silicosis.

Goal: Ensure personal safety before operating hazardous equipment.

Tools and materials

  • Dust Mask/Respirator — Protecting lungs from inhaling hazardous silica dust
  • Hearing Protection — Protecting ears from extreme noise levels generated by the saw
  • Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from flying dust and debris
  • Safety Gloves — Protecting hands from abrasion, cuts, and vibration
