Frame Deck Joists & Headers

It will be cool, one day 😂
What happens here
Install the joists, which are the horizontal framing members that support the deck surface. Joists are typically spaced 12, 16, or 24 inches on center, depending on the decking material and local building codes. Cut joists to length using a circular saw or miter saw. Attach them to the main beams using joist hangers and hanger nails, or by toe-nailing and screwing them directly into the ledger board and rim joist. Use a framing nailer or impact driver for efficient and secure fastening. Install rim joists or headers around the perimeter of the deck frame to enclose the structure and provide additional rigidity. Ensure all joists are level and consistently spaced.
Goal: After the main beams are in place, the deck joists are cut and installed perpendicular to the beams, forming the sub-structure for the deck flooring. Headers are also installed to create a perimeter.
