Installing Deck Footings In The Snow + Helical Pile FAQ

What happens here

To install the helical piles, first, an old ground-level deck section is moved out of the way using the mini excavator. This demonstrates the versatility of the equipment. Then, a collapsible square is positioned at the corner of the house foundation. A string line is pulled across the foundation's edge, 20 feet wide, to serve as a reference point for the outermost piles. Additional measurements are taken using a tape measure and marked with spray paint to define the precise locations for all the helical piles for both deck sections. Special attention is given to the design aspect of a free-standing deck, requiring piles two feet away from the house's overdig zone, and the ability to attach a ledger board directly to a concrete foundation where applicable.

Goal: Precisely mark all helical pile locations according to the deck plans.
