I SCREWED Up pouring the live edge slab. #1/2

What happens here

The project begins by preparing an 8-foot slab of black walnut, destined to become a live edge island countertop. This involves thoroughly sanding the wood to create a smooth surface and remove any loose particles. After sanding, the slab is cleaned with a wet washcloth to remove all dust, dirt, and debris, ensuring a pristine surface for epoxy application. This step is crucial for the epoxy to adhere properly and prevent imperfections.

Goal: Create a clean, smooth surface on the black walnut slab ready for epoxy application.

Tools and materials

  • Black Walnut Slab — The primary surface for the live edge island countertop
  • Sander — Smoothing the wood surface
  • Wet Washcloth — Cleaning dust and debris from the wood surface

get into it so we start today's project with an eight foot slab of black walnut that strategically has some holes all the way through and i say strategically when we didn't put them in but i picked out a slab that had holes so that we could optimize that and do something cool with it all right let's reveal the wood just got to get a wet washcloth this has to be done for the next step but here we go now i call this revealing the wood because when you get it wet it'll give you an indicator of what it'll look like after the finished product is done and i mean an indicator very loosely actually when the final product is on and done it looks way better in real life but this step is necessary because i've got to get all of the dust dirt and debris completely removed from the wood before i can pour down the next step
