what is up guys welcome back to living lost off road it's been forever out here it's been forever a lot of stuff has happened i got rid of the four-door i picked up this 2000 jeep tj i have the 2005 jeep lj which i've slowly been working on i got some problems with that but that's for another video so today i just want to talk about the 2000 jeep tj what the plans are with it what i'm gonna do with it i'm gonna start like a little restoration series here and we'll see where it goes but here still got the board up everything i want to do trailer tent tj tju all that kind of stuff i'm not going to work on the lj very much because i'm gonna keep as a daily driver it needs a throwout bearing it needs some wiring figured out and it needs a new ac compressor so those are three things for sure that i want to kind of do a video on diagnosing the wiring and uh throw bearing i probably won't do myself but for sure that ac compressor a bunch of stuff on that needs to be done let's talk about this 2000 jeep tj and what i got it for what everything like that so what had happened was i ended up posting my four-door 2008 jeep jk four-door i had that jeep for about three or so years i put a lot into it lift tires lights engine work whatever all that into it if you guys check out my instagram that's what started this whole thing was that four-door jeep if you guys check out my instagram you'll see everything i've done to that i love that jeep it was super fun super hard to get rid of but i had to move on to something else i want to learn about the tj's i want to learn about the ljs i want to start owning older jeeps to learn learn about them you know so the jk was fun i built it up learned a lot about it the next step for that jeep was really just to build it bigger you know the one ton axles the hemi or the ls swap the 40s that was the next step for that jeep and that was the money that i didn't have and i didn't want to put into it so i figured hey i'm going to get a tj let's do tj's stuff let's build a tj let's fix it tj we'll see how it goes so i had a guy hit me up great guy by the way awesome guy hit me up said hey trade i said why not so picked up the 2000 tj in the yellow i love the yellow love the yellow it's probably one of my favorite color of jeeps so what are some things that we have going on here well what came with this jeep was a bunch of different parts right he gave me slightly used shocks and springs he gave me this poison spider hood louver kit which i already installed i posted pictures of it i should have made a video on it but he gave me this and then some different control arms and stuff like that so i've slowly just kind of been going through the pile seeing what's going on and seeing what's happening so i'll kind of walk you through so right here we have the poison spider hood louver kit right here this was a super easy install i really enjoyed doing it i think it looks great especially the black on the yellow i think looks fantastic um it's got the warren 8 000 pound winch the warren front bumper with the fog lights it's got a little bit of some paint defects right here some sun fading on the hood a little bit right here of course it's got the rust on the hinges like every jeep has i definitely broke that mirror the other day not happy about that but i definitely broke the mirror um got a little bit more rust here rust here but other than that it's a pretty clean solid jeep it has 165 000 miles on it it runs phenomenally it has the 4.0 in it and you guys know that engine is my absolute favorite engine it's got a brand new best top trek top on it which i the frameless i don't like if someone has a stock or a factory raketop for this hit me up i might be in the mood to switch um it's got the market rock rails on it which again i don't not a big fan of these because of them bolting into the body but whatever that's already on will keep them i'm definitely not going to run this setup on the lj i'm going to run ones that attach to the frame because that's a clean body i don't want to mess it up it's got xd rims on it i love these rims it's got xd's on it with a 33 by 12 and a half by 15 tire and it's sitting on a three and a half inch lift i definitely really like how these tires look like how the rims look love how the jeep sits but i think i might switch these over to the lj and then put maybe 35s on here so that's kind of a little walk around of the jeep right that's basic walk around on the jeep there's other things like led headlights and stuff like that but that is just little little basic stuff about the jeep what are my plans with this jeep well my plans with this jeep are shoe fix it up right i want to clean it up i want to make it look beautiful i want to do all the rust repair on it i want to pull the shocks pull the springs put new ones in and i want to clean up everything on it i want to make it look as good as i can for a 2000 jeep with 165 000 miles on it that's sort of the plans now i want to paint match some of this rust get it all sanded down paint match it clear coat the hood not clear coat it get this clear peeling clear coat all cleaned up and get it all good to go that is the plan so far what have i done to the jeep though i'll show you so like i mentioned he gave me a bunch of new control arms for it along with the bushings so this control arm is done and these control arms need a couple more coats of paint you like my uh little paint stands there little beer bottles but i've been going through i've been using this rust-oleum undercoating right here stops ross i don't know i don't know if i'm a fan of it i guess we'll see how it goes but i've been using that i'm gonna clean it up he did put me with a whole new box of let's go over here he gave me a whole box of bushings so those would definitely get thrown in there before i do all that this is another story i changed out the cats on the lj so definitely should have done a video on that as well that was not fun um but yeah so here are the plans that i have with this so like i said i did the hood louver kit on it already and that was an easy install got the control arms i'm painting up the next step that i'm working on right now is i'm trying to clean all of this up so as you see here these springs are pretty worn out these shocks have definitely seen better days and i look at all those rust in here all this rust behind there so what i did is i've been going around with a grinder and i've been just cleaning up all of the rust all of the rust in there i gotta go through i gotta get new rotors on here gotta clean up the brakes clean up the calipers he sent me with a new uh track bar so i'm going to throw that on i want to do a curry anti-rock on here i might do that but for now i got to pull these springs got to pull these shocks got to get behind here with a grinder and clean all that rust up and do a paint job on here i've already done this side of it as you can see looks pretty good cleaned up all the rust and painted with that rust-oleum undercoating along with everything along with all of this as well so it looks super good i like it went through and painted the underside of this i'm gonna go through and paint more coats on there everything like that so yeah you guys just saw the frame you saw the control arms you saw what i've done with the jeep now what are my plans for this jeep right now i don't know you know i really like it really enjoy it do i want another lj i would love another lj i would love a newer tj 2005-2006 era um but i don't know yet i'm gonna slowly fix this one up over this this summer get it all cleaned up and i'm gonna drive a little bit see where it goes i'm always in the hunt for new axles i'm always in the hunt to go bigger on everything just have to get it for the right price so what are some other projects we got going on in the garage right we got the rooftop tent project going on but you guys know what is ridiculously expensive we have the trailer project which i need to get a welder and weld up a rack for that we always have stuff to do on the lj um we just have a whole bunch of stuff to do in here i'm definitely gonna pull the back seats out of here i'm gonna put the back seats back in the lj and we'll go from there but i just want to give you guys an update of what's going on in here you've probably seen some pictures on my instagram and we're like oh what is he doing you know well this is kind of what i'm doing can't wait to get this thing finished up can't wait to get out of the garage and clean it up and get it all looking nice i do want to do an lj video here soon um but i do need to figure out some wiring with that first so like always you're not living unless you're living lost i'll hit you guys up in a little bit but when i get these shocks taken out these springs taken out there'll be a video on that i'm gonna go through the total rust prevention how i do it how i am doing it and i'll show you guys take you guys along with me on this project tj so you're not living unless you're living lost have a great day
