๐ŸŽถ I get by with a little help from my @prowood scrap ๐ŸŽถ#build #deckdesign #framing #construction

What happens here

Begin by creating a simple spacer jig. Take a small block of wood, approximately 2x4 inches (or similar scrap wood), and mark it with a word like 'HELP' for identification, though this is optional. Position this small block perpendicularly at the end of a longer deck board. Use an impact driver and wood screws to securely fasten the small block to the deck board. This assembly will serve as a guide to maintain consistent spacing between deck boards or to establish a straight starting edge for the first board.

Goal: Fabricate a tool for consistent deck board spacing

Tools and materials

  • Impact Driver Hitachi โ€” Driving screws to assemble the jig and later for fastening deck boards
  • Marker โ€” Marking the small wooden block (optional, for identification)
  • Wood Screws โ€” Securing the small wooden block to the deck board for the jig
  • Deck Board โ€” The base of the spacer jig, which will also be used as a regular deck board
  • Small Wooden Block โ€” The spacer component of the jig, typically a scrap 2x4 piece
