I Built a luxury Media Console In Our Bedroom

What happens here

After the internal frames are installed, cut pieces of drywall to fit and cover any exposed framing or gaps around the recessed openings. Secure these drywall patches with drywall screws. Apply fiberglass mesh tape over all seams where new and old drywall meet, and at all internal and external corners. Mix drywall compound (mud) and apply thin coats over the tape and screw heads, feathering the edges into the existing wall. Allow each coat to dry completely, then sand smooth with sandpaper or a sanding sponge. Repeat the mudding and sanding process with progressively thinner coats until the surface is perfectly flat and seamless, ready for primer and paint.

Goal: Create a smooth, seamless wall surface around recessed elements.
