Hydro Dipping my Dodge Challenger - Snake skin Dip

What happens here

Once the hydro-dipped object is thoroughly dry, a clear coat is applied to protect the pattern and provide a durable, finished look. The video demonstrates applying two coats of clear coat using a spray gun. The first coat is applied and allowed to 'flash off' or partially dry for about 10 minutes, after which the second coat is applied. This clear coat significantly enhances the visual depth of the pattern and protects it from scratches, UV damage, and wear.

Goal: Protect the hydro-dipped pattern and provide a durable, glossy finish.

That goes on the dash of the Dodge Challenger. Now, when Tad first gets a part in, he scuffs it and roughs it up. Then he uses a special primer over the top of it. This is actually one of the columns to my car that you can see he's working on. After it's primed and dried, he then paints it the color, whatever color you choose. I chose yellow to go with the seats that we were putting in because I just wanted something that would stand out for a video. Now, you guys can pick any color you want and any film pattern that you want. There are an endless amount of variety of things you can do with this. It's actually pretty cool. Now, Tad is a craftsman when it comes to what he does, and I think this might be one of his favorite parts of the process. This is the clear coat. Let's see what he has to say about it. So, this part is kind of where we turned something really cool into something beautiful. I think the fumes were starting to affect me, but I wasn't complaining cuz this whole process is really awesome. Now I'm standing in kind of like a giant paint booth and there's a big fan in that wall that basically sucks all of fumes right into it. So, I'm a pretty safe 3 ft away. Tad likes to just clear out the air gun beforehand and then blow off the part just in case any airborne dust hits it before he applies the clear coat. Coming up now. [Music] The way he does this is just flawless. If I tried to do this, I'd have runs in it for sure and people would be looking at it and I'd be like, "It just adds character. Leave me alone." Clear coat. How many clear coats go on? We'll do two. Just got to get one initial clear coat. It's going to sit for about 10 minutes or so. Then we're going to put another one on. We're going to pull it out though and do another part.
