(20,001 characters)on air we're on air and live so if you're in Florida hopefully you're staying safe and I guess could watch this later because your safety is the most important So today we're going to be talking about hqlp sprayers and airless sprayers so somebody came in my store a couple days ago and they have Apollo Precision 5 Pro Le and he had some questions uh what he could paint with it and he was interested in painting the fence he was interested in painting trim his cabinets uh his walls ceilings just everything he's um he's actually a homeowner he's not a professional painter so he just had a lot of questions about the sprayer and the capabilities of it so I have mine this is my Apollo Precision 5 Pro Le right here that I use I'm going to be talking about uh where I use an hvlb sprayer and where I use an airless sprayer the pros and cons of them if you have any questions about HBO sprayers and airless sprayers where to use them when to use them this is your chance to ask right here live so Lisa's monitoring the show she is monitoring you know who's on and who's asking questions oh he says hi cool did I butcher it um I thought I did so good I'm curious if you've ever said his name right I it's it's I have something wrong with them I don't know we appreciate Alan he's one of our moderators on um Facebook page life members so Alan is got a painting company um amazing painter and um they appreciate his moderation so so um we know it's the middle of the day but we have some things commitments tonight that we can't do so hopefully you can watch this later but we do um have some announcements of some great deals on the Apollo and then also just want people to know that on Labor Day we're gonna do a cool giveaway we're teaming up with sashko which makes all kinds of good sealants that you have used and are using um and so stay tuned you if you have to follow us follow us on what platforms on everything you'll see it everything on sasco is doing a pretty cool giveaway through us and you can get a lot of products from SAS Go free on Labor Day so check it out we're going to be posting a link of how you can get a whole box of free stuff we're just doing a teaser we can't tell what they're gonna get so we're just gonna tease you and not tell you anything no just um teaser it's what we have like editors they can just edit no this is live yeah um so anyways um there is a deal on so this is my um Apollo Precision by Pro Le uh for me best HVLP hblp sprayer I've ever used best gun that I've ever used absolutely incredible unit what does HVLP stand for um that's a good question do you know High Velocity low pressure very close high volume low price so the difference between an HVLP sprayer and an airless sprayer an airless sprayer is pushing pure paint by using high pressure hose no air no air uh HVLP is combining air and paint at very low pressures to um atomize the pain so the the the pain is going through an airless sprayer it is super high pressure it's being crushed through a tip to atomize it which atomizing is breaking it up in little small droplets the HVLP sprayer is atomizing it by pushing um a small amount of paint through a needle and nozzle and then air is shooting from the sides in you know breaking it up into small particles atomizing it so two different um uh types or two different concepts of applying paint to a to a substrate one of the cool things about Apollo Pro Le right now is they are offering a pretty killer deal so the whole unit this is my unit uh it's I I run a remote pot and if um I don't run a cup gun this is a cup gun this comes with the setup right here I don't like having a cup attached to my gun my pot is up here and it's it's twice the size of a core it's a two quart pot so you have to fill it less it runs 30 feet of hose to my gun and now now I don't have to have a pot that I can't turn upside down I don't have the weight of it I can maneuver manipulate a lot easier my pot sets with my sprayer it sets outside of my booth so it doesn't get overspray on it and does it get um all messed up dusty and dirty that system is absolutely amazing once you run a remote pot I don't think you'll ever not remote run a remote pot except in certain situations equations so um you know I know the seasons I didn't talk about the deal though I kind of well okay well you can see that's a teaser that's it no we'll we'll there's a great deal going on right now but my question is is right now the seasons are starting to change and you're you're gonna start doing indoors yeah when would you use this most or where would you use this most somebody wanted to know there's two two things I use an HVLP sprayer for I use it for cabinets and I use it for wrought iron fences and I'll talk about the wrought iron fences um I'll talk about the rod on fences first and I'll and I'll talk about um as I did a comparison and a scenario to see the amount of paint you would lose in overspray and the headache that it creates by doing a wrought iron pool fence with an airless sprayer and the smallest tip size I can use and running it down really low pressure and then because I have this unique opportunity Community where I was working in a subdivision that had multiple pools and weren't doing the wrought iron fences at their pools so they're the same you know same pool same high-end fence setup and the First Fence we did we used an airless sprayer we used four by eight sheets of plywood to control overspray and drop cloths and I think we had like five sheets of um four by eight sheets apply with that somebody would hold up you know up against The Rock that's expensive expensive I believe we used 22 gallons of um it was Rust-Oleum industrial enamel that we sprayed on that fence and the the the the Forbidden sheets of plywood were so thick with paint that it wasn't even usable we had to just throw them away they were so dang Abby and we really messed up a bunch of drop cloths you know because the oil-based product that it takes quite a while for it to dry um and folding up the drop gloss they would they turn lights like say and paper and so it was costly getting the 4x8 sheets it was a messy with the drop gloss um in an early spring because the fan width on an airless sprayer you can the smallest size you can get down to is about you know that size it's like a two four inch pattern like a 206 a 208 I couldn't find any one um size tips they were all tubes so then tell me what it was like with the hlp so then we jumped over did the next fence with an HVLP and um 22 gallons on one fence the next fence with an HVLP was for three gallons took three gallons so at fifty dollars a gallon um 22. so you're like 19 19 times 50. I'm not a mathematician that's a lot of money I'm lost in overspray and pain plus the four by eight sheets that we bought that we had to throw away plus the the drop cloths that got all messed up plus breathing paint nasty cleanup so that the difference between the HVLP we were able to dial it down I I dialed it down to about you know a circular pattern you know probably like a one inch diameter circular pattern and that's what I was spraying with it and I was running it at 4.5 PSI the airless sprayer was running around 1200 PSI so there's a major difference and when it comes to overspray and transfer to your substrate of product an HVLP has a high transfer rate of the product coming out of the gun to your substrate versus an airless sprayer doesn't have a high transfer rate has a lot of Fallout has a lot of overspray and so um that scenario you know that it's if you ever do a run on Advance you only use an atrial piece so before you say the other situation that you would use it in why don't you say what the special is right now so the special they're running right now and um it's going been going for a while is you this is my setup you don't see the hoses that it comes with accessorators accessories um so welcome to my world it's like the Terminator it's the accessorator it's like you get so many it's like so why don't you say the deal and then how where they could get it or how they could get it like is there a code I keep trying to get to that deal yeah but I and then I want to I want to respond to some of the people that are here so the deal is is when you buy this setup right here what's the deal you get it comes with a 7700 atomizer gun and um Court pot Teflon go to court pot you get another gun another Court pot for free and that's a 500 value so you get a second gun so um you have two guns two guns are better than one so can you run two guns at one time from an hlp you know that would be um a question I couldn't answer right here John John drock the owner of um Apollo sprayers who is a super cool guy um amazing guy the owner his dad um started uh Apollo sprayers um and that company and now John's took it over now his son works for it John would be able to answer that so um I don't know that's a um so would you would you if you were using the two pots and the two guns would you say this one is for water base and this one's for oil because I know you don't like cross-contaminating is that something so what you would no because I always like completely tear them on this is different than Aaron espara I always completely tear my gun down clean it with um like if I'm using a water-based product I'll clean it with water soap and water then I clean it with acetone I turn it completely down paint at 100 percent where a second gun comes in play and a cop is say um yeah so two guns are better than one so is it you say your sprayer um you're doing cabinet doors and you're spraying Breakaway glaze um and then you're clear coating the Breakaway glaze you could have your Breakaway glaze in one gun and then your clear coat in another gun so now you're not having to do your Breakaway glaze then clean everything up and then do your clear coat your um all you got to do is just change the gun right here boom and you're ready to go so having two guns is um is better than one and who knows maybe a seal goes bad 100 value so how can they get it like do if you buy this will you just get it automatically do you have to do anything to get it is there a code is there it's almost automatic so um if you buy it from paint life Supply Co there's a QR code um in the description of the sprayer and maybe here on the live show the QR code will pop up also because we we have some magicians that run this show they might be able to pull that off but that QR barcode if you scan that QR code you're just going to enter in your information in the Springer you bought and Apollo knows that you bought it because Apollo knows and they'll send it to them directly um they will send it okay I just saw a QR code there you go magic see I mean we have some live show magicians right yes so so right now if you're thinking about you know I'm gonna be moving indoors I have some fences I really want the Precision and I really want to control overspray then this would be a good time to purchase it so um you know if you have any questions like Chris had one question he'll he can post the answer and find out from John about that but you can go to our feed and if we don't know the answer we'll look into it and get that for you but we have some people with us the good Chad says do I need to Prime over oil-based paint if I'm using oil base to redo the color um okay I was just look because I just got message from John so John wanted to jump on the live show okay but he's boarding a plane to Thailand so I'm not sad for John he's probably going on vacation or maybe he's going after business I don't know so read the question again yeah do I need to Prime over oil-based pain if I'm using oil-based paint to redo the color um you should prime or you should sand so um if you sanded it do it did a nice good scuff sand like if I was using an oil-based paint like um Rust-Oleum industrial enamel I wouldn't want to just spray that right over the industrial enamel without you know I'm a big fan of just a mechanical Bond so um sand first and then you because what you're if you don't sand you got a really hard oil-based you know surface that's usually glossy has a Sheen to it not easy to bite to glossy machine okay yeah it's so so you either use a primer to get your bond or you use um you know abrasive I pay attention you do yeah um you got to get a good bite so uh so um and that okay so Dwayne James says when painting cabinets what's the best use hclp sprayer or airless and I know you've used full I I have I've used both so you know one of the things um hvlps were you know why really common these cops are common in the automotive industry um and in painting cabinets and and here's um the big difference when um painting cabinets and I use really expensive Coatings that I'm catalyzing and so um 2K polies and so like if I was spraying um Renner 851 and catalyzing it that's really expensive you're getting over to a hundred dollars a gallon so you want to make sure all that product actually gets on your cabinets and not on the floor or out the the vent of your spray booth and the transfer rate of your product on an aglp sprayer is a lot greater than um than a in the airless sprayer and in one of the reasons why is you can quickly change your spray pattern like when you're spraying the side of a cabinet door you're doing the faces but then you got to do all four edges there's no airless tip that's um just that why it's you know at least three inches to four inches wide so you're using a ton of product that is not hitting that edge it's falling to the floor as overspray and I'm eventually getting sucked out of your booth if I spray in a booth so an Apollo um 77 atomizer gun you just dial it down and do your edges really small you get a good transfer rate even on the face of the cabinet cabinets you're using a lot low a lot lower pressure like I I'm running at 4.5 PSI when I spray cabinets with a 2K poly I'm usually around 1800 like 1600 PSI I mean that's that's a lot of pressure so you're atomizing a lot of paint putting a lot of um like so look at dust and stuff in the air and stuff like that through that atomization process so you get a lot more dry dust Fallout you know within airless sprayer and a lot um less paint transfer to your substrate so if you're using expensive Coatings uh HVLP sprayers gonna save you a lot of money and the cleanup is when you're inside the house doing the face frames a lot less dust on the floor a lot less dust in the air using an um an air express so somebody just hopped on um oh John says can use with two guns with a Y splitter John Durock wow right before he um boarded the plane to Thailand so yes I appreciate that John yeah so that was some good information that's something I never knew so a wise glitter do you have a wife splitter available at paint life Supply Co no because I never even knew it existed and I didn't know we learned something new and that just came to my brain um that's actually like like really good to know because um so that wasn't equipment that you just came up with that question no I was me wow yeah wow so that's pretty good good question though good question um because you you know somebody you know asked about splitting you know a different sprayer um the other day in the store and it wasn't an Apollo but it was um it was a pressure washer you know can you run two guns on the pressure washer or a 2400 psi pressure washer and I've never attempted to do that but other that that's actually a good idea because if you got a large set of kitchen cabinets one guy's on one end you're on the other end two guns running just get the job done twice as fast so good idea yeah nice splitter I'm gonna happen yeah so we'll have to add that or and then somebody chip miles says just getting on where can I purchase it if we have purchase what the wise so you can um paintlifesupply.com you can get um Apollo sprayers the uh Paul this is my sprayer right here that I've had for years um used for years um this is the pro Le with a remote pot set up it comes all set up you can get um it without the remote pot you can get their um the um other smaller models of the Pro 3 the pro five this is a five stage turbine unit right here so um this is gonna spray because the the three will won't spray like latex Coatings heavy Coatings it's only a three-stage turbine unit so the more um turbine like sages airplane engines inside the things the heavier the Coatings make it go faster less thinning so if I'm on a little plane I'm gonna go slow and find my big plane we like turbines so the more you like turbines this is a five-stage turbine unit so um it I I spray lacquers through it I spray um latex I've sprayed um like a industrial enamel um installing industrial enamel do it real fast if anybody does have any specific questions about this because the owner of the company and you know like for us somebody asked you like Graco Titan or Apollo which is better and for us it's really important to know the people we're working with and we really liked that his dad started the company he's been running the company for I won't say your age John for many moons and now his son's working for the company and they make them in um Vista is it Vista California California and California so we still have it on our list to go go see the factory where they're making them so hopefully maybe this fall we can get down there which would be nice but um you know John is on the feed so if you do have any questions about it make sure and ask and then if anybody does want to purchase one are um people that are doing magic behind the scenes they could probably put a link up and you know it will have the QR code to get the free gun because now we know um you can spray two at one time so we gotta add the Y yeah so we like I mean my splitter to our store we we like supporting um companies owned by cool people that make cool products and John's company is one of those and um once again the I'll talk a little bit about some of the things that's unique about this because you brought up you know um Graco and you brought up Titan I've used all three of them and so and you know they're good but this is better I mean this is the Lamborghini of um HVLP yes HVLP sprayers and one of the things I really really love about this unit is it's got a digital digital readout right here that tells you the pressure you're at and I get very specific of where I want my pressure at once I've um thin my product or I'm within it I know exactly every single time how much I'm going to thin it whether it's five percent six percent I do the exact same thing every single time I set the pressure exactly the same every single time the pressure you set right here on the dial that's four four point five PSI that's exactly what it is at the gun unlike an airless sprayer you have all these feet of a hose you got a gauge at the square that's not what it is at the gun that's what it is at the square this is telling you what you got at the gun and that's really important so I absolutely love the digital darita my Titan is it's just got two stages you've got high and low and um so you can't control yeah the other thing is is hblp sprayers um run extremely hot by Nature they um they got these turbines in here running in there these um things that create heat and there's a lot of electrical electrical components and aglp sprayers and electrical components don't like heat so um the this versus my um cat spray 115 it runs all the time so outside the booth I'm we keep it outside the booth and I'm telling everybody you know um who's man and outside they're going to turn it on turn it off turn it on turn constantly when I'm not spraying and tell them to turn it off because we don't want it to continue to run because um they're very hot the hoses actually get hot uh the Apollo Precision five the spare it actually turns off um three seconds after you release the trigger ofโฆ
