How we rebuild a Failed Retaining wall WITHOUT adding new retaining walls 4 k video

What happens here

The project begins with a thorough assessment of a hillside backyard where a timber retaining wall has catastrophically failed, threatening the stability of the wall above and the adjacent house. Instead of simply repairing and replacing the damaged section, an alternative plan is devised: to eliminate the retaining wall by removing only the severely damaged portions, burying the remaining stable sections, and recreating a new, compacted slope. This approach aims to reduce costs and provide a more long-term solution. The plan involves using structural fill soil and proper compaction techniques, as approved by civil engineers and the city.

Goal: Understand the scope of the retaining wall failure and decide on an alternative stabilization method.

Tools and materials

  • Camera/Smartphone — Documenting the damage for assessment and planning
  • Measuring Tape — Measuring the dimensions of the failed wall and slope for planning
  • Safety Boots — Protecting feet and providing grip when inspecting the site

all right you guys we got a doozy of a job today we're going out to a site where there's a retaining wall that suffered a catastrophic failure and it's threatening to take the wall above it out and the house along with it it's on an extremely steep slope when I look at a job like this I try to think outside of the box a lot of times when a contractor comes into something like this they'll may make a suggestion of just to repair and replace the damaged area as it's currently designed I like to try to come up with multiple options for the customer and today we're actually going to be going with one of the ulterior options instead of replacing this retaining wall the way it is we're going
