don't fire employees or you're going to get stuck paying even more for dead beats that you never wanted in the first place we're going to cover how to let employees go so you can minimalize your risks to the company and the expense to your business in the long term so let's just be clear if an employee if you fire an employee they have the right to collect unemployment insurance which you technically pay for but if an employee quits voluntarily on their own you are under no obligation to pay for their unemployment insurance if you're an employer make sure you verify in writing if at all possible the date and the time of every single person that leaves your company and why put that down it's immensely important to protect yourself as the business owner otherwise you're going to be paying for a bunch of so really you should be ask me why I would bring this up to you well I just got off the phone with a a judge and went through a hearing a phone hearing for a past employee that clearly quit and I documented it I have it in text messages so I have it in writing that he quit on his own voluntarily and he still appealed the process he still forced me to go through the um the hearing process and verify the information now if I didn't have anything in writing it would just be my word against his and I would get stuck paying for his unemployment until he decides to go find another job so in summary anytime a person comes into your company or more importantly leaves your company and how they leave your company you need to strictly document everything move they make the dates and the times to protect yourself or you could end up paying a lot more for a person that was never really that beneficial to your organization in the first place I hope this helps please hit the Subscribe button check me out on LinkedIn send me a friend requests
