How to Stop Peeling Paint? Fix Peeling Paint and Save Money on Replacing Doors and Trim!

What happens here

Begin by assessing the weathered door jamb and window trim, noting areas with peeling paint, nicks, dings, and sharp edges. The goal is to prepare these surfaces for restoration rather than complete replacement, using products like Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick primer, a Wagner Paint Eater for sanding, a Riverdale brush for application, a Linbide scraper, a 2-Edge 5-in-1 tool, and Tower Acrylic Caulk.

Goal: Understand the scope of work and collect necessary materials and tools.

Tools and materials

  • 2-Edge 5-in-1 Tool 2-Edge — Various scraping and prep tasks
  • Caulking Gun — Applying caulk
  • Linbide Scraper Linbide — Scraping peeling paint and loose material from the trim
  • Wagner Paint Eater Wagner — Sanding and grinding down weathered paint without clogging
