How to Set Up Mob Grazing Paddocks for the First time on your Farm or Homestead

What happens here

Walk out the polybraid from the geared reel, creating a straight line across the pasture. Maintain an appropriate distance between lines, typically around 15 paces (approximately 45 feet) for efficient paddock size. If the terrain is undulating, place step-in posts at both high and low points to ensure the fence maintains consistent height and doesn't sag or ground out. After laying out the wire, walk back along the line, inserting step-in posts into the ground at regular intervals to support the polybraid. The ground should be soft enough (e.g., after rain) to easily insert the posts.

Goal: Create a new temporary paddock line with polybraid and posts.
