Replace Engine Oil Filter
At 8:25 in
How to service a tractor......with a disappointing ending 😬...uh oh!! PROBLEM!
What happens here
Locate the engine oil filter, typically a spin-on canister. Position a rag or small container underneath the filter to catch any residual oil when it is removed. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Drain any oil from the removed filter into the drain pan. Before installing the new John Deere branded oil filter (part M801002), apply a thin coat of fresh engine oil to the rubber O-ring gasket. Also, fill the new filter approximately two-thirds full with fresh Shell Rotella T4 15W-40 engine oil. This helps with proper lubrication during startup. Hand-tighten the new filter until snug, then give it an additional quarter to half-turn. Apply a label indicating the date and operating hours to the new filter.
Goal: Install a new engine oil filter.
