How to raise baby chicks...Simple and easy tips for a healthy flock!

What happens here

The presenter travels to the post office to collect a cardboard box containing 50 baby chicks, ordered from Murray McMurray Hatchery. He explains that chicks can survive the 2-day transit without food or water due to absorbing their yolk sac just before hatching. Upon returning, he carefully opens the box, which contains 25 Brown Production Red chicks and 25 White Leghorn chicks. He gently picks up the chicks, two or three at a time, and places them directly under the heat lamp in the brooder. He strongly advises extreme caution during this process, as chicks are very fragile and dropping them can be fatal. He also points out the 'egg tooth' on a chick's beak, a temporary feature used for breaking out of the eggshell.

Goal: Safely transfer new baby chicks into their prepared brooder environment.
