How To Powerwash & Stain A Fence. Tips staining or painting a fence.

What happens here

The video begins by introducing the project: power washing and staining a fence to remove black mildew and discoloration. The presenter highlights the importance of stripping off old wood and discoloration before staining for a better finish. He introduces the main tool, a 4,000 PSI power washer, and specifically mentions using a rotating nozzle for its efficiency in stripping wood compared to flat or round nozzles. He then walks over to the power washer to demonstrate how to start it.

Goal: Understand the project goal and the primary equipment to be used.

Tools and materials

  • Flat Straight Nozzle — Mentioned as less effective for stripping wood than a rotating nozzle
  • Power Washer MITM — Stripping mildew and old wood from the fence
  • Rotating Nozzle — Efficiently stripping and tearing off old wood and discoloration
  • Round Nozzle — Mentioned as less effective for stripping wood than a rotating nozzle

[Applause] This is Chris in Boise. In this video, we're going to show you how to power wash a fence. We got a fence here in the background that's got a lot of mildew on it. What we need to do is we need to get rid of a lot of that black mildew off the fence. So, we're going to be using a power washer with the 4,000 PSI to actually strip and get a lot of that old wood off the the fence and get a lot of that discoloration before we actually put our stain on it. and it gives um the fence a lot better look if you really strip a lot of that wood off. We're using a 4,000 PSI MITM power washer with a rotating nozzle. And this rotating nozzle, it actually rotates and spins and it actually will strip and tear wood off extremely fast versus using just a flat straight nozzle or a round nozzle. Over here we got the power washer. We'll show you how to start it up.
