(4,450 characters)Hey, what's going on, guys? Alex Azuzkan here from Mr. Build-It, and today we've partnered with Bare Paints to show you how we can take an old paint job like this and turn it into that. So without wasting time, let's get into the video. Let's go! Alright, so let's discuss all the tips and tricks that the professional painters don't want us to know to get in your house painted like a pro. Tip number one, pressure wash. You want to use a pressure washer to clean up every dirt, all the debris that is on your house. Spider webs, cotton webs, any honeycombs, get that stuff off of your house. Basically, you're gonna run your hand and if it looks dirty, you need a pressure wash it. Number two, when everything is done, we're gonna caulk. The caulk that I use is a paintable. It's the one from Dap. It's white. It's paintable after like 20 minutes, so really quick. What we're doing is looking for any of the nail heads that are sticking out. So we see one there and they're just going all the way down. So we're gonna put a dab on and just wipe it off. Not only nail heads, but we're also looking for pre-existing caulk that has cracked over the years with changing weather conditions. We're gonna give a lot of attention to areas that will find a bud joint, kind of like a trim piece sitting on a siding. The more of these seams you find and fill them in with caulk, the better everything is gonna look. 100% of this job is gonna depend on the prep work with this caulk. So take your time and really find anything that needs repairing and patching. Couple other parts also to notice is some of the lower sections have the sprinklers hitting them, so they're crusting away after we sanded them down. Some of the parts will need to be replaced, so buy a brand new sheet of siding, put it on there and secure it as appropriate. Also, you'll see holes that are from previous Christmas decorations or previous water hose stations that were set up. Make sure you patch them all up with either caulk or spackle or anything that's appropriate for the siding. Be on the lookout for pre-existing chipping paint. Use 80 to 120 grit sandpaper to remove the flakes and smoothing out the transition where raw wood meets old paint. Then use a water-based primer, apply it and let it dry before applying the paint. When it comes to setting your paint sprayer itself, there's basically one setting that you really have to tinker with and that's the flow. Now when we spray, we're gonna have a nice fanned out pattern and what we're looking for is the top and bottom of the fan. We wanna make sure there's no breakups of any lines. So as you can see here, we see a breakup, not much here, but more on top. So we're gonna crank up the flow just a little bit. There we go. Nice, good, clean lines. Okay, so now we're ready. The systemic approach to shoot these inner men shots behind all the trim pieces and then using a paint shield to etch out a border of our house, keeping the paint away from the foundation. Then we're gonna fill in the rest of the work area using an overlapping fan approach, which each stroke is gonna overlap the previous one by half. When it comes to painting the exterior trim, you could always spend the time masking off the window and siding and spraying it. But what I found worked the best was taking a four inch exterior paint roller and then rolling on the contrasted paint only on the face of the trim and not the sides. I see all the pros doing this all the time. It looks incredible, but more importantly, it saves you a ton of time. For the final reveal, the product that we went with is the bare marquee exterior paint and primer. The sheen is a satin sheen which gives it a cool pearl-like look. The base color is the Euro gray and the contrasted trim is the silky white. We love that this is a all-in-one paint and primer. We love that it's a one-coat application and the best part, it has an extremely friendly application window with unpredictable weather conditions. Well, that is it for me this week.
