How to Mask Off a Kitchen! Masking off Cabinets for Airless Spraying!

What happens here

The video begins with an introduction to the project's goal: masking cabinets for painting using either an airless or HVLP sprayer. The presenter then introduces various types of painter's tape, specifically highlighting FrogTape products. He displays FrogTape Orange (production grade with 3-day release), FrogTape Blue (production grade with longer adhesion), FrogTape Yellow (delicate surface, not used in this demonstration), and FrogTape Green (multi-surface with PaintBlock technology). The importance of using the correct tape for the duration it needs to stay on and the surface it's applied to is discussed.

Goal: Understand the project and select appropriate masking tapes.

Tools and materials

  • FrogTape Blue — Masking cabinets when tape needs to stay on for longer than 3 days
  • FrogTape Green — Preventing paint bleeding off floors and other surfaces
  • FrogTape Orange — General masking, 3-day release
  • FrogTape Yellow — Masking delicate surfaces like fresh paint, wallpaper, or faux finishes

I hope you are in this video. I'm gonna give you some tips and tricks how we go about masking cabinets to paint them with an airless sprayer or HVLP sprayer. So if you want some tips, tricks, masking, stay tuned for this video. All right, now we've got our cabinet right here. I'm gonna give you some tips or tricks, what tape I use, the mask I use, and stuff like that. How we go about painting or masking these cabinets off to keep overspray out of the inside. How do you keep overspray off your cabinets or off your cabinets or your appliances, off your floor, and everything else you don't want paint on. We're gonna be spraying within HVLP and an airless sprayer. We're gonna talk about the differences between those after this video, but this is all about masking. And so we're gonna show you how we mask off where the drawers go on the face frames, where a door goes on a face frame, even a drawer that can't, drawer front that can't come off of a drawer. We're gonna show you that. What I typically mask when I'm doing cabinets, I'm gonna use either a production tape. I like frog tape, orange production grade tape, or I like frog tape, production grade blue tape, and these two tapes are excellent for masking. This one can stay on a lot longer. If you're gonna be masking your cabinets and leaving your tape on, this is gonna be able to stay on there significantly longer, and it'll come off a lot easier than a production tape. So if you're gonna be leaving it on more than three days, don't use an orange production tape. This is a three day release tape. So I'm gonna get ready here. We do have delicate surface tape from frog tape. I'm not gonna be using that on this job. We also do use orange tape. If we want to keep any bleeding off of floors and stuff, the blue tape comes packaged in multi-packs, doesn't have individual packing. So it's a little less expensive than your green tape with premium paper, but they both have paint block technology on the edge
