How to Mask Exterior Windows in the Wind in Under 1 Minute!

this christy idaho painter here on paint live tv today i'm out here painting and it's a windy day and you know what wind don't stop us you just got to do some certain things to mask in the wind and spray in the wind i'm going to show you how i go about masking a window down this wind tunnel over here this alleyway it is a little bit windy so there's some simple tricks that you can do masking and spraying controlling overspray and i'm going to try to help you out paint in the wind so let's go around the corner [Applause] [Music] all right we're gonna see if i can mask this window off in a wind tunnel um masking in the wind can be pretty challenging on the other side the wind was kind of just swirling on this side it's shooting down this alleyway so this could be even more challenging but you can mask in the wind you just have to have patience and i am using delicate frog tape because i just sprayed these metal windows yesterday and i don't want to peel off the paint so i use delicate frog tape and the winds blow in this direction so i want to seal off this edge first and i'm going to just tack it off here and start working my way down here just tack it off down towards the bottom and the wind will carry it the plastic that direction so now i've got it sealed off that direction now i can come over here i like to just move down tack it instead of going all the way i'm going to just tack it right here i'm kind of lucky because i got a lull in the wind right now just going to bring this all the way down now you can see how it is kind of windy you can mask in the wind you can spray in the wind as long as you're conscious and aware and use cardboard shields use a smaller spray tip do things to help control overspray i'm going to tuck this in i don't want to trim it off because if i trim it off it's just going to blow away in the wind so i'm just going to work on this corner as it started to come off i'm going to wrap it over that lip right there and that'll help hold that masking there and when it's windy i like using inch and a half tape and not one inch you need more adhesive to hold down your plastic or paper so there it is masked off ready to go spray in the wind so there we have it some tips and tricks masking the wind hopefully you enjoyed this video if you have give us a thumbs up we think we appreciate it very much it keeps these videos coming we'll see you on our next video oh if you got a question or comment just leave it down in the comment section below and we'll try to get to your comments as soon as we can
