What happens here
Faced with the re-do, the team (led by the speaker) decided to start over. This involved removing all the previously placed rock and soil, re-establishing the correct subgrade, and bringing in new soil. They used fresh, clay-based soil to build up the grade, ensuring it sloped aggressively away from the house foundation and met the concrete sidewalk flush. The soil was also compacted for stability. This corrected grade ensures that rainwater will now flush over the sidewalk and away from the house.
Goal: Achieve the correct subgrade slope and elevation for effective water drainage.

- Shovel — Moving and spreading new soil
- Work gloves — Protecting hands during manual labor
- Fill Soil — To build up the subgrade and establish proper drainage slopes
