It's your questions, it's my answers. You guys are emailing me every day and I want to take some time out and address everything you guys want to know from bidding and estimating to how do you get started running heavy equipment like this to how do you get started in business period. So what are we waiting for? Let's get going. Now would be a good time to subscribe. Guys, let's go drive this 45-ton rock truck. Let me meet my buddy Nate. First question you guys ask a lot is how do you get started running heavy equipment like that? Well, there's two basic avenues you can go down. You can go through a training academy, you can go to a school and you can get formal training. Now if you plan on getting formal training, budget between four and five thousand dollars. But if that's out of your reach, there is a way around it. If you don't have that as even opportunity, you can start small and work your way up. You can start for a small landscape company, a lawn care company or any company that has smaller equipment like Bobcat, small excavators and things like that. And the trick is you become the best within that organization. And I'm not talking about the most skilled. You don't have to be the guy that flips bottle tops off from Coke cans. That doesn't matter. You become the person that cares the most about the job, cares the most about the equipment, cares the most about the organization because business owners look for that. That foregoes skill. Your dedication, your commitment to the company is the absolute key to success. Don't forget that general rule and that will take you from a small Bobcat to a mid-size excavator to a 45-ton rock truck. That's what worked for me, it'll work for you. I absolutely promise you. First thing we got to do is got the hydraulics. So what we're doing right now is leveling out the cab. I think we're good to go. Put on the brake. This is like driving a car, it's just like driving a really tippy car. So the next question I hear a lot is I'm just getting started in my business. Do you have any advice or tips for me? And what you do with the information I'm going to give you next is going to be the difference between you succeeding and you struggling. You need to align yourself with people that have already been where you want to go. 80% of small businesses fail for a reason because owners think they can do it all by themselves and there's nothing further from the truth. I want you to get a mentor. I want you to get a group of people. They've already fought the battles that you are about to face. When they've already done it, hindsight is 20/20. They know the answers, the solutions are right there. They also know what not to do. Guys, when you're starting your business, not doing things is just as important as doing things because you're going to be your greatest liability. You, my friends, are going to be the biggest cause of problems and failures in your business because you think you can do it all. In actuality, I'm going to tell you that this is going to be one of the biggest challenges you face is reaching out for help. Get help as often as you can. That's why we created Dirt Monkey University is to offer that help. We have over 100 members all helping each other out. That is the sole purpose of Dirt Monkey University. Click on the mastermind group and join the basic starter kit right now, right today. And just to help you guys out, we're making a special deal. We're going to let you join the mastermind group for 1 week for $1. You know what? Screw that. We're going to make it free for a week. And if you don't like it, I'll give you your money back. Get it cuz it's free. Just to try it out to see if it's RIGHT FOR YOU. THIS HAS GOT A LITTLE KICK. I think I like playing with power blowers a little too much. I want to show you guys this hill. 30° hill. This truck goes right up it. This, this is my favorite part. This hill because it disappears. You can't see anything when you get to the top of it. Straight up. Look at this thing. It's going to disappear. HA! GONE! IT'S GONE! I LOVE IT. THAT is awesome. So the next thing I hear all the time is, "Stan, do you have any tips or advice on bidding and estimating?" The first thing I can tell you is if you're taking tips or advice, you're on the wrong track. Bidding and estimating is the heart and soul of your company and it's the thing that can get you in trouble the absolute quickest. So here's another thing that I want to talk about. Bigger is not better and there is a very specific reason because as the bigger your company grows, the bigger the bull's-eye on your back becomes. And that's a bull's-eye for scammers, for the government. That's a bull's-eye for everybody that wants to dip their fingers into your pocket. I've seen more companies fail because they tried to grow big instead of just trying to grow profitable. Instead, what I want you to do is I want you to if you have the heart and soul and passion to grow bigger, I want you to be able to have that opportunity. But what we're going to teach is to grow bigger in a very controlled fashion. That means that we are going to absolutely maximize your profits at every step of the game. And then, when you're comfortable and then, when you're ready, we're going to take you to the next level. It's a very calculated way of growth, but it's also a very safe way to grow. We teach this specifically at Dirt Monkey University in the mastermind group. Go there and check it out. It's a program called Bigger Isn't Better. It is seriously the safest and fastest way to grow a company, guaranteed. One of the most important questions that you guys are not asking. What is the one skill that will take me further than anything else? And that is communication. No, it's not the ability to stand in the middle of an airport and feel comfortable talking into a video camera. What I'm actually referring to is your ability to connect one-on-one with your customers, with your crew, with people inside and outside of the industry. Communication, when you master this, will take you further than any other skill single-handedly. And by the way, standing in the middle of an airport shooting a video kind of sucks. Hey, if this video's helped you out, let me know in the comments down below or hit the like button and do me a special favor. Please hit the share button. It goes a long way. God bless. Go get them. I think I see a wasp nest over there.
