How to Date Mason Old Mason Jars and win a $10 gift card Viewer Challenge!

hey guys this is Josh Tony rich farmer have you ever wondered how old a mason jar is this is an old-school jar it's a blue jar it's an old jar this is an old Atlas mason jar let's get the little a I don't know what you call that a little Atlas symbol with the a on it how old are they how do I know well I'm gonna take you on the vlog today I'm going to show you a little bit about how to date your mason jars so come along with me I'll show you a little chart and we'll show you a couple jars something simple something quick two or three minutes every time maybe you learn a little something come on along with me guys [Music] [Laughter] so I think we should title this vlog how to geek out on mason jars so I got this old mason jar here this is an old blue jar how you told the difference in these mason jars and again I'll post the chart so you can just pause your video and take a snapshot or however you want to do it print it off or whatever and you can later on look back at these and if you got some old mason jars or ball jars or atlas' jars or even cur jars there are ways online you can figure out how to date these things so we can geek out a little bit here on mason jars okay so the chart will show you the shapes of the lettering on these mason jars so it's fairly hard to show you on camera but what you have to look at I can't show you anything so what you have to look at here you see the lettering the way the B is shaped whether it's underlined or not that's what you're looking at right there okay so let's show you one that's different if you look at this one if you can see it it just says ball across there and it's got a little tab that sticks up on the a all right there you can see no underlined okay and it says perfect Mason look under this one boom it's different it's got a little line underneath it and the B is a little different and the a doesn't have the tab sticking up so far and it says perfect Mason also this jar is almost round but still a little square this jar is round and you can see the tooling marks where this jar was more of a handmade type jar right along there now check this guy out Square has a a on the bottom of it and if you look the ball is the same as the ball on this one these two jars are dated 1923 to 1933 because of the shape of the ball okay kind of neat the ball riding now this one is dated between 1933 and 1962 due to the shape of the lettering okay and this is a more modern jar dated 1962 date and that is the shape of the lettering it's got a big swoop the B where there wasn't such a big swoop if you look at the difference there's a swoop and then there's another swoop you look up here there's a little tiny one and that so out all these mason jars sitting out or getting ready to do some canning and I thought why not go over something really quickly of how to date your mason jars you can go online and you can look up all kinds of stuff on how to date these things and what they're worth listen right here you know it's a 1960 today and it says Williamsburg 1776 to 1976 on there this jar is over 40 years old that's awesome some of these jars are really really old okay and on the bottom here it says genuine ball sculpture glass really really awesome so guys if you have more to geek out a little bit on mason jars today's your day to geek out a little bit I just want to talk to you for a second about them and see what you think now I've got a challenge for you I have a jar here that is called the atlas mason jar it has atlas written across there and mason here and on the bottom the challenge by the way is for you guys to date this jar for me tell me when it was made well on the bottom here it says mason and it's got some tooling marks right there got a little number it is five three seven two and this is 14 there's a little B and 88 and a 2 what the heck when was this jar made if one of you guys can tell me when this jar was made I'll give you a ten dollar Visa gift card okay so get on
