What happens here
The farmer showcases a three-year-old pasture that was originally cleared forest and is still in a poor state, characterized by sparse grass and broom sedge, which indicates acidic and compacted soil. To regenerate such areas, he explains the practice of "bale grazing." During the winter, large round hay bales are unrolled across these pastures. The cows consume part of the hay, and the remaining hay, along with their manure, acts as biomass and pH-neutral fertilizer, enriching the soil and slowly correcting its acidity and compaction. This process transforms bare or poor land into lush, productive pasture.
Goal: Restore degraded pastures by introducing biomass and natural soil amendments.
