(8,643 characters)let's try it again guys going live here going to wait till a few people get in the uh in the video here hopefully some of you guys that on the last one but this is our second attempt first attempt failed I'm going to say it's on the edge of being moderately stupid to drive and do a live feed that's okay I've been called worse got four people in here I've got a guy in a we're driving in a 65 mph Zone and he's going 50 so let's put this come's diesel to work all right we got three people I say we get 10 people and we'll start talking junk we are driving on Interstate 40 in Greensboro North Carolina taking her nice and easy got five people got a thumbs up guys put some thumbs up out there let me know you love me and my double chin right there maybe three chins when I drink beer I get three chins to the wind oh my goodness so we're going to go pick up some farm equipment guys let's get a few more people in here and we'll start talking going to Highway 85 it's good to have uh all these supporters out there coming in here and giving me thumbs up and joining us on a live chat we got six people we get four more we'll start talking guys going uh down to Denton North Carolina right now well whatever we got six people I don't care let's start talking so guys today we are driving to Denton North Carolina I've been all over Craigslist all over the farm sites all over everywhere trying to find a hay Balor a hay rake and a hay bind for cutting hay now I haven't cut hay ever in my life this is all new to me but it seems to me that it doesn't make any sense for me to continue mowing my grass down down into the ground it doesn't make any sense just bowing it down and and calling it good we don't have any livestock yet so I've got to do something with this grass uh handy making equipment is expensive uh if I were to buy new equipment we'd probably be looking at 40,000 bucks uh not including the tractor so I found a used John Deer hay Balor and a used hay rake and we are driving down to uh Denton North Carolina which is about 70 miles away so I want to talk to you about the expense of this stuff so we're paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $8,000 for all this uh equipment that we're getting today and basically it's just a hay rake and a hay uh Bor it's a round Balor uh where we're going to go with square bales square bales sell a little bit better and they make a little bit more money but I just don't have the labor force to pick up the square baales so we're going to store our round bales on the farm and we'll sell them and we'll use them for uh uh IR not irrigation we'll use them for uh controlling areas to try to wash out as we Reed all this land that we're clearing uh this morning I uh went and checked on the timber guys that are cutting trees right now for our new fields and they're doing well they're about to finish up on the first 60 acre track over on our uh the side that we live on the farm so I apologize about this thing being bumpy I'm in a 3/4 ton Dodge truck and it bounces so you're uh you're going down the highway with me on a bounty truck so anyhow we're going to go down here I've already gone down and checked out the hay balers made sure everything is okay uh made sure the equipment looks pretty good got a long drive uh I want to talk to you a little bit about the stressors of uh of being on a farm and Mrs Stony Ridge is over here beside me uh she's along for the ride I know you guys want to see more of Mrs Stony Ridge but she's a little bit on the camera sh uh side uh what can I say so I want to talk to you guys about some of the stressors of being on the farm here uh the stressors of uh living a life that's different than everybody else is we don't live in a uh mcmansion quote unquote we don't live in a giant house we don't uh we don't spend money on ridiculous things we don't go to Disneyland we are starting a farm and we're busy with that uh we don't we don't need those things in our lives okay we don't desire those things in our lives we go to the beach and we go to the mountains we we'll take trips to Wyoming and Colorado and we'll see ranches and and we'll see farms and and our whole life is is revolving around this and it's a big change okay this right here is a genuine City girl okay she didn't grow up in the country now I grew up in the country and I wanted nothing to do with farming I wanted nothing to do with chickens and cows and pigs and all that stuff but as I grew a little bit older and I turned 40 in 2 days so as I grew a little bit older I realized that that wholesome lifestyle is what I want to do and the way I want to live and the way I want my kids to live so if maybe Mrs City girl Stony Ridge will uh blessed me with some kids one day uh plan that's the plan but let's talk for real it uh it's a stressor on a marriage it's it's hard to to start a farm uh with someone that never ever lived the lifestyle of of farming uh and it's it's stressful on a marriage wouldn't you say yeah I agree I think my expectations are I dropped you wee there we go I think my expectations are that uh Mrs Stony Ridge here already knows everything to do and but she doesn't know everything to do and and I think it's it would behoove me to not think she knows everything to do so um we were fussing a little bit this morning I went up and checked on the goats and she was off yesterday and what do we do we got to make sure goats have food and water well the goats didn't have water well it doesn't do me any good it doesn't do me any favors to fuss at her about it it's just the way it is we'll water them when we get home they had a little bit of water not completely out but we'll water them when we get home um the thoughts that uh I could take a girl from the city and move her out to the country and expect her to just pick this stuff up like that is is is not the right way to think and it has stressed our marriage a little bit I get very frustrated and she gets very frustrated because she's doing her best she's she wouldn't dare not do her best she's always doing her best I hope she's always doing her best even though she almost burned the house down with potatoes last night yeah so anyhow I want to talk to you a little bit about the stresses of uh of starting a homestead on a marriage and it's stressful times get tough uh we fuss we there's there's all is not well all the time on the Stony Ridge Farm we do fuss and we argue about stuff ridiculous little stuff that you normally argue about when you just get married we've been married for 3 years and and not so normal stuff like hey you know this is a farm this is a ranch I you know I feel a heavy load of all the things that we're doing all the stresses of all these things that we're doing I'm cutting Timber I'm managing all that I'm making sure that everything's right that the animals are fed that the eggs are gathered that the chickens are fed and it takes a very strong partner and a very strong bond to have that so guys we only got about nine people in here we're headed down to Denton North Carolina uh there'll be a full Vlog about the equipment that we're going to get and we're actually going to a chicken farm uh in Denton North Carolina this gentleman has three chicken houses I'm not sure what company it's with or whatever but uh we may get some Drone footage of uh the chicken houses in the interest of biocurity we won't be going in the chicken houses because we have have chickens and we don't want to spread any possible disease to 30,000 chickens but um we'll probably talk to this guy a little bit I know a lot of folks have kind of demonized the fact that uh uh our nation and our world needs to be fed um with factory farms and I say needs to be fed because guys it's just a fact of life you can't raise pasture raised chickens for everybody everybody's not eating these pasture raised chickens we're going to raise pasture raised chickens but everybody's not eating these uh primarily uh overseas these chickens that this uh guy uh raises he says a lot of them go overseas so it's interesting it'll be neat to get his perspective and we'll see you on the Vlog here in the next day or so when we're going to get the equipment tell you about it uh we'll walk around the equipment and the cost and we'll go over all that stuff and we'll talk to the chicken farmer so guys thanks a lot for coming along I want to talk you a little bit about the stresses of farming and and where we're going what we're doing and we're spending about $7,000 today so 7 or $8,000 all right thanks a lot this is Josh Stony Ridge farmer and Mrs Stony Ridge all right woo see you
