What happens here
Once the grain filler is completely dry and cured, gently sand the entire surface to smooth out any remaining texture and remove any dried excess filler. Use fine-grit sandpaper, such as 220-320 grit, with an orbital sander or by hand. The goal is to achieve a perfectly smooth, glass-like surface where no wood grain is visible or felt to the touch. Vacuum or wipe away all sanding dust thoroughly.
