Furniture Flipping 101: Transform Your Thrift Finds into Treasures!

What happens here

Apply a generous coat of Aqua Coat grain filler to the furniture surface, particularly to the top, which receives the most wear and touch. Use a Bondo spreader or even a credit card to apply the product, ensuring it is spread across the grain to effectively fill the pores, rather than with the grain. This technique helps to eliminate the wood grain profile and create a smoother surface. Let the Aqua Coat dry completely (typically 30-60 minutes). Depending on the desired level of smoothness and grain elimination, you may need to apply multiple coats, lightly sanding between each coat once dry. For areas that are simply 'weather-beaten' rather than deeply grained, a light skim coat might suffice. The main concern is eliminating pinholes that would show up if painted with a light color.

Goal: Fill the wood grain and achieve a smooth surface, especially on high-touch areas.

filling the next step I'm going to do I'm begin using my Aqua Co and what I'm really concerned about mostly is just the top of this piece of furniture this is where people are going to be setting drinks setting stuff they're going to be feeling it toally people areen touching you know the legs and stuff I'm not concerned about this this is kind of weather beaten um water beaten and stuff so I want to do a really good fill on that so I'm going to skim a pretty um heavy coat over the top of this I'll skim a light coat I'm not worry about getting down in the grain I'm just going to skim a little bit on these flat surfaces let that dry and begin sanding I I use Bondo spreaders right here to spread it or even a credit card but what I like to do is make sure there's no rough edges I'll just lightly sand these edges to make sure they're smooth not rough that way I'll get a nice flat flat tight um skim coat of Aqua coat on there one of the big questions is is people will see the furniture afterwards my after uh photos they'll say I I can still see grain well I'm not trying to eliminate the profile of the wood when I'm doing one coat of Aqua Cod I'm just trying to eliminate pin holes that would show up if I painted this a really light color probably do it a dark blue or something so I don't have to do a whole lot of filling now if you wanted to you'll get your uh your rounded edges you'll fill if you really want it to be particular and F you'll the Grain in the the rounded Corners you can use your finger finger works well you can use you'll try to use a tool like this to fill it if you're really particular about eliminating grain now if you're going to try to eliminate 100% of the grain which I rarely do you're going to want to do probably three coats sand pretty heavily in between coats so my Aqua coat
