What happens here

Once the first coat of paint is completely dry, lightly sand the entire painted surface, especially the tabletop, using an orbital sander with a fine-grit sanding pad or a sanding sponge. The goal is to smooth out any minor imperfections, dust nibs, or unevenness, creating a perfectly smooth base for the next coat. After sanding, thoroughly clean the table to remove all sanding dust. This can be done with a tack cloth or a damp cloth followed by a dry one.

Goal: Smooth out the first coat of paint for a flawless subsequent layer.
