What happens here
This video visually demonstrates methods for transporting farm materials, specifically large round hay bales, using various equipment including tractors with front-end loaders for loading bales onto a trailer and an ATV with a bale unroller for distributing hay in a field. While showcasing these operations, the video does not provide verbal step-by-step instructions; rather, it offers a visual overview of the processes.

(9,676 characters)farming practice and food should not have to be propped up by government subsidies good morning folks and welcome back to the Stoney Ridge Farm Channel I have some things that I want to say and I want to get them off my chest the government reached out to me and offered me money for each cow that I have as relief and I turned them down [Music] oh all right folks cheers welcome back to the Stoney Ridge Farm Channel this is my 150 acre first generation Farm here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina about two years ago and this has been bothering me ever since I was reached out to by my local Farm Service office about relief relief money for my cattle now this was during the entire shutdown of the world here as we know it and for some reason the government thought that it throwing money for free at cattle Farmers like myself and a lot of cattle Farmers took this money if you took it let me know as an honorable person as a United States Air Force veteran who served his country as a person who utilized his GI Bill to go back to school and better himself I saw no earthly reason to take a subsidy for my cattle who are out here on the farm grazing grass so that being said I'm certain that the huge mega Farms that are out there the feedlots that are out there took this subsidy and ran with it because hey it's free money but it's not free money guys and bailing out businesses is not the way to build a successful business is it let me know so a lot of small businesses local businesses around here receives subsidies from this same program this same program supported people and I understand supporting people but we also need to understand that people need to support themselves now I get a lot of comments on the channel from time to time telling me about I can't afford this and I can't do that and I can't do this and I'm so unfortunate however I don't understand why a business or a person as a sole entity can't think ahead far enough into the future to save and prepare for down times down times down times on the farm so here's the way it worked during this whole time when the whole world shut down the big meat packing operations had a bottleneck they didn't have the labor force to pack meat to slaughter and process animals and therefore those animals some of them had to be put down this is a fragile system here guys this is a fragile system and the bigger they are the harder they fall and we found that out during this whole pandemic if you supported your local farmer and you knew your local farmer you may have never even been affected by any of this what I'm saying is the bigger we build it the harder it falls when we rely on our parents as young people to bail us out every time we screw up versus being Innovative and intelligent and working out how to save how to spend this is what Grandpa used to say save some spend some and always have some save your money and plan for a rainy day save your money and plan for a rainy day like today so hay cost almost doubled for me here on the Stoney Ridge Farm that's okay hey cost almost doubled but I saved for a rainy day and anyone in business and in life knows that sometimes things go your way and sometimes things go the other way when you make bad decisions most of the time things go this way when you make good decisions most of the time things go that way am I wrong please help me explain to me how I'm wrong if I am wrong now as a young person I've joined the military at age 18 because I needed to be a man I needed to be self-sufficient I needed to be intelligent and I needed to get an education and a savings and a plan for my life I understand those who can't work need support I don't understand those who won't work taking support and that's what this is about so in our country right now we have Banks failing we have businesses failing we have the big automakers failing and the government is there to catch you when you fall you have to be caught and put back up you have to be propped up I'm going to tell you right now any business that needs to be propped up is not a business that should be there okay any business that has to be propped up by the government or any child that needs to constantly be propped up by their parent needs to learn something and to learn something is learning not how to fail and failure is part of success the most successful people that you know and or have heard of in your entire life have failed they have failed more than they have succeeded guys people don't just grow up and just pop out business ideas and all of a sudden those business ideas the first one does great what folks need to understand is success and failure go hand in hand and the lessons you learn from failures are much more valuable than the lessons you would learn from success so my question to you is should any Farm receive free free costing you the taxpayer government money government subsidies should any Farm receive free money for each cow that they owned I think it was something like 14 or 36 dollars per cow something like that I don't know this may be an ongoing thing I told them no I don't want it I don't want your money I don't deserve it I don't and the American taxpayer doesn't deserve it the American taxpayer doesn't deserve to bail out big business the American taxpayer doesn't deserve to bail out Farms the American taxpayer doesn't deserve to subsidize the food that we eat guys you know your doctor you know your accountant you know your dentist but you don't know you're a farmer you don't know where your food comes from I'm going to leave you with a thought even a squirrel knows how to save up nuts for the winter but a human being a business owner some of the smartest people in the world that are only driven by money not by ask rural saving up nuts for the winter just like you would have to save up money for the winter just like you'd have to save up for bad times for hard times even a squirrel can do it why on Earth do we need to be propped up by the government I want you guys this is a discussion this isn't this is not my opinion my opinion is that I don't want to take your tax dollars and put them on this farm this is my farm not your farm this is my farm not the government's farm this doesn't need to be propped up I've never received a government subsidy on this Farm although I've applied for government subsidies and let me tell you what happens when you apply for government subsidies such as building fences to fence out creeks and waterways and ponds which is an honorable plight for sure when I applied for those I was denied there is not a creek or Pond or Waterway on this farm that is contained in a fence no cow drinks no animal drinks from a Waterway on this farm and we have three ponds and six Creeks I fenced them all out and I did it myself and I did it right and thusly I was not rewarded for doing it right I won't play this game farms and the companies that got that government money for fencing out the Creeks for protecting the waterways where the people that did it wrong to start with they were rewarded for doing wrong in our country we're being rewarded for doing it wrong we're being rewarded for failing big Bank fails here's some money then we go pay our CEOs millions and millions of dollars in bonuses hmm big automakers failing give them some money then they go and pay their CEOs millions and millions of dollars in bonuses is this right guys is this right does this system seem right I don't think that any one any person any business any entity should be propped up by the government or young person should be propped up by your parents you learn from your mistakes you grow you plan for the future you do your very best and you save you spend and you have you spend some you save some and you always have some and Grandpa used to always say always have enough money in your pocket to get yourself home guys this is just a topic that bothered me a lot when I was offered free money from the American taxpayer for my cattle that had absolutely no effect whatsoever from any sort of pandemic it disgusted me what do you guys think share it with me again I am 100 in favor of taking care of those who can't but a squirrel can pack up his nuts for the winter why can't big business big corporations and big government figure out a way not to run everything into the ground and be propped up the same as your young people that are out here today go to work get a trade make an investment in yourself be smart be intelligent make good decisions spend some save some and always have some and you won't need to be bailed out by your parents or to government or anybody else I don't think I deserve or you deserve for me to take subsidies on my animals living on my farm that I sell Farm Fresh beef from it's wrong tell me what you think guys thank you so much this is not my typical video here on the Stony Ridge Farm there'll be some videos right up here at the end of this one check them out we do a little bit of farming we do a little bit of fun a little bit of mechanic work a little bit of tractors a little bit of everything here on the Stoney Ridge Farm guys thanks a lot be sure you stay tuned we're going to do a video here about how income is generated right here off the Stoney Ridge Farm thank you so much stand on your own two feet don't take the government prop don't take the government money don't fall for it and stay away from corruption I think it's absolute corruption for me to take money for the cows that are grazing the same grass this grass was not affected by a pandemic guys we'll see you next time on the Stoney Ridge Farm Channel take care
