Protect Insulation and Backfill Trench

What happens here
After the insulation is installed, it is highly recommended to protect it, especially the portion that will be below grade. This is often done by installing a dimple drainage mat or a protection board over the insulation to prevent damage during backfilling and to help manage hydrostatic pressure. The video shows 'PROLinROLinx' building wrap above the insulation on the upper wall, which is for weatherproofing the structure's above-grade walls, not directly for the foundation insulation below grade. Once any protection is in place, carefully backfill the trench with the excavated soil. Avoid using sharp tools or large rocks that could damage the insulation or protection layer. Gently compact the soil in layers to prevent future settling, ensuring proper drainage away from the foundation. The finished grade should slope away from the building to direct water away.
Goal: Protect the installed foundation insulation and restore the ground around the foundation.
