from pour to finish

What happens here

After screeding, once the concrete has stiffened slightly and the bleed water has evaporated from the surface, a worker uses a bull float to further smooth and consolidate the concrete. The bull float is a large, flat trowel attached to a long handle, allowing the operator to work from the edge of the slab. It is pushed and pulled across the surface to embed any aggregate that has risen, fill in minor surface imperfections left by screeding, and bring a fine paste of cement and sand to the top, preparing it for final finishing.

Goal: Smooth the concrete surface and prepare it for final finishing.
