What happens here

This project details the process of receiving, uncrating, assembling, and testing a land rake attachment designed for skid steers and track loaders. It covers initial delivery, safe removal from packaging, attachment of scarifier teeth, and testing the equipment's functionality on different heavy machinery to demonstrate its capabilities for grading, leveling, and soil preparation.

we got a new toy coming frankie truck just called they're bringing it down the street it's like uh i've actually never seen it before i only seen a video of it but it's got like three rake things on it all for landscaping for grading so i'm gonna go pick it up all right you didn't help no i'm good what toys we've got the bigger the truck the bigger the toys so what kind of goodies are you bringing me today i know what i'm getting i just wanted to see if this delivery guy could figure out what it was just by looking at it and i did find out he was actually a skid steer operator at one time all day long i don't even know everybody you just need to know where it goes see but you got your little digger part here on the back end to make it nice and all right let's see what we got besides a nail in the tire there which has been oddly marked what is the deal with that and then the same thing over here why are those there inquiring minds want to know all right boys let's go bust open a crate somebody get me my fiskars battle axe schwing bada bada [Music] okay [Music] next step let's hook her up let's find out what's in the box you would think he'd have frankie's house would have a knife frankie's the king of like shooting from the hip with whatever he's got laying around though so kind of not surprised he's like the modern day macgyver he is he is oh my goodness a redneck macgyver [Music] oh yeah look at that they're the same okay okay so they send they sent replacement ones and the hardware nice that's those little those little touches like that man foam fell tires so i was wondering what that snail hole was for that's where they inject foam into those tires never go flat but my skid loader tires will so we've got to pick up all the lumber and nails and get rid of it that thing's pretty wild looking it's uh out of the box uh just hook up the two hydraulics i'm gonna release pressure on it shiny so shiny there we go all right at this point i don't know much about the machine but here's what i do know those center teeth are called scarifiers and you can control their depth of cut from inside the cab that's what hooks up to the hydraulics you've got a front finish rake bar and a back finish rake bar and it's designed to let you work forward and backward now i've never used anything like this and i've got the back dragging down but going forward and putting teeth into the ground kind of freaks me out the only other time i ever did this i was like 10 years old driving on a farm tractor and i impaled the front hay fork right into the ground and bent them up and broke them and felt so bad that i've never put forks into the ground since so this is a little bit of a sketchy feeling to be quite frank with you guys so i played around in this area of the machine for about 20 minutes before i realized you need a skid steer that has a float function to really make this work mine is broken on this machine and this attachment depends on you being able to let it float separately from the machine and roll on its own tires to really get the maximum benefit out of it so after we're done with this we're going to take it out to a real job site and put it to the test on our asv which has a float that functions imagine that and see how it does with the track machine in a real job site even though there's a lot of things broke on the 185 that i got to get to there is one thing that this machine does better than anything else in fact i'm just going to show you this machine is so well balanced that it actually kind of lets you feel like you're part of it i know that sounds weird but it really does feel like an extension of your body and this kind of control comes in handy on tough job sites can you help me it's got really good balance but that doesn't mean it's really good for grading we're gonna actually throw this attachment on a machine with tracks and take it out on a job site and see what it really can do putting it on a machine with an actual float that worked was like a night and day difference i picked up pretty fast that each one of these three separate teeth does its own separate function as you're going forward those front rakers are doing an amazing job of just picking all of the crud out of the soil the scarifiers go up and down help you loosen everything up and then the back dragging teeth as you're going backwards if you got a low spot you want to fill in that's kind of like a drag or a plane and it just allows you to grab a little extra soil and control and get everything perfectly leveled out [Music] tonight i'm feeling mean i'm feeling me tonight i'm feeling [Music] me [Music] black guy and if he swings at me then i'll buzz that suckers [Music] this is where i finally start to get the hang of this machine oh this thing is sweet yeah awesome piece of equipment to make food plots well i can't believe how well it scarifies yeah i mean like like we could come into a established yard and just put the scarifiers down rip out the grass sort the turf out of the way prep it and get it ready we were actually talking about that earlier we were talking about all the different applications you could use this thing in i keep saying it but this is going to save us so much time especially with how many rocks are in here how deep does those go again so it's got three settings i was explaining this to blaine we've got it set up to go from one to five inches so anytime i want to go one inch or two five inches i just hit a button right inside the cap now if that's too deep you can set it from zero to three inches and if you really need to go deep and you really need to get something dug up you can then set it to go from three to seven inches you're gonna plant some crops yeah yeah you gotta plant crops there you go but so for what we're doing we just have it set up on the one to five inches and i'm just adjusting it up and down with my thumb inside the cap so i'm finding that after the initial after what we did initially i don't even need to use the scarifiers because we got three components to this thing you got your front rake sam you got your scarifiers which are adjustable up and down and then you got your back dragging rig right here and this is actually designed as you're moving forward to flip up so it's not dragging the dirt so you're getting it so yes so you can kind of you balance everything on the wheels as you're going and i'm finding that the wheels are the kind of the key element to make this thing work because this is separately floating from the machine at this point and it's riding on its own wheels and all you're doing inside the cab is tipping it forward and backward to adjust where you want your dirt to go or where you want to take dirt away so it's so cool probably i'd say about a half a day learning curve yeah i think about six hours yeah with this and you'll be pretty proficient but oh yeah you're gonna jump in the first time you're gonna be like what does this thing work sam wanted his own turn yeah listen to that perk sometimes i think sam likes the asb a little too much okay but right here check out them scarifiers those are the center teeth now he can adjust that inside the cab whether he wants to go deeper or not he doesn't even have to have him active he can just use the front and back grading bars you look closely on this run he actually doesn't have the rakers activated on the next run he's going to actually put them down and you can see the difference in the soil and what those rakers do so right now he's grabbing whatever buried beneath the dirt however deep he activated those rakers so he's able to pick rocks out or opt not to if he leaves them up so now he's letting the attachment coast on its wheels and he's allowed he's just working that front grading bar [Music] so let's show you what this project looked like before we came in and started grading it though okay this was uh like i said earlier this was a pool demo and this was the one uh where they had that scam scapers out and they just caved everything into the pool and was just trying to fill it up with whatever there's like sod leaves and terrible dirt so uh let's go on back there and see how bad it looks all right well not too bad blaine i got one i got one blaine got one already oh that's a good one let me get some water on there that one's got some wild stuff going on with it little guy but with how they got the peeling and the banding on there there's a 50 stone right there oh yeah that's not bad at all got a little bit of crap to clean out of here that was under the snow so we started this project last fall but it snowed on us and we couldn't finish the grading or do any of the last landscaping so this is the first time we got to see it once we stuck it on the asv it really felt more comfortable the float worked on it and the machine was able to actually perform better than i expected it took about 30 minutes to an hour to get down how to use the scarifiers versus the front rakes versus the back rakes and i'm assuming that after i run it even longer i'll be be able to get more proficient with it but that's our video for today god bless go get em you guys and hopefully we'll see you on another one please hit that subscribe button and come back because we have one more new toy that we're gonna be playing with
