What happens here

This video provides two methods for accurately finding and marking obtuse angles using common woodworking tools: speed squares. The first method demonstrates how to use two speed squares, one as a 90-degree reference and the other to measure the remaining acute angle. The second method shows how to use a single speed square in conjunction with a pencil and simple subtraction from 180 degrees to determine the obtuse angle.

I got a comment the other day that's like, "Hey man, show how to do an obtuse angle using speed squares." So, let's get after it. Make sure you have one speed square sitting at 90°. Go ahead and put your other one on the angle, making sure that in the corner here, they're lined up with the corner. And now you're just going to want to read reading about 50. So, 90 plus 50 is 140. And we can check that. This sitting right in here like this, touching here, touching here. If you can see that, kind of complicated, but the zero's lined up with the 140. So, we in fact do have a 140° angle right here. All right. So, let's say you only have one speed square, and you got to put new molding in or flooring in or whatever the case may be, and you got two walls that kind of go like this. So, you're going to go ahead, and you're going to put this first speed square up in the corner here, and you're going to strike a line, just like that, right? And now you're going to go, and you're going to pivot on this. And that line is going right to the 40, right? So, you're going to subtract 40 from 180. 180 - 40 is 140, and that's how you know that this angle is 140. And that's how you find an obtuse angle using two speed squares. Now, their speed square series is getting to the end here. I maybe got one or two more videos about these things. If you guys want to see anything else, drop it down below. But for next week, we'll see what we come up with. So, you all have a great rest of your weekend. Peace.
