Fastest Way to Mask Windows for Painting | Pro Tips from The Idaho Painter

What happens here

Begin by assessing the window area; in new construction, this might involve drywall surrounding the window frame where a wood sill will be added later. Select a suitable hand masker, such as the M3000, and load it with 1-inch painter's tape. The presenter recommends 1-inch tape over 1.5-inch for easier release. For projects where tape might remain for multiple days (more than 3), use blue Frog Tape with a 14-day release. Avoid using production tapes with shorter release times (like 3-day orange Frog Tape) for extended periods to prevent residue or damage upon removal. Have Tough Gaff tape ready for tacking down the plastic and tape in certain areas.

Goal: Gather all necessary tools and materials, focusing on selecting the appropriate painter's tape for the duration of the project, and prepare the hand masker.
