What happens here

This video demonstrates a simple and effective method for splicing two electrical wires using heat shrink solder connectors. The process involves stripping the wires, twisting them together for a strong mechanical connection, positioning the heat shrink connector, and applying heat to melt the solder and shrink the tubing, resulting in a solid, waterproof electrical joint.

Hey folks, that fix the guy here and today I'm going to show you what is quite possibly the easiest and best fix for connecting two wires, solid, waterproof. It's actually solder. So come along, let's get to fixing. Alright everybody, here's what we're looking at today. These are some solder and seal connectors. My brother-in-law can't hook me up with these because I had inquired about the best way to solder. So I called him and asked him about soldering and he said he's been using these for a while and he really likes them. So he sent me a little bit and I'm going to share with you today. Alright, we've got a little low temperature solder in here. We've got a couple of these little adhesive patches. They made them color-coded for the size, which is pretty awesome. They actually put a size chart right here on the front. Where did that little bugger go? Alright, and the whole thing is actually heat shrink. Alright, so once you start putting heat to this, whether you're using a heat gun or a lighter, which we're going to use a lighter today, this actually is all going to shrink down and this solder is going to melt into the wire. This is very simple. Quick, easy. If you have a lighter, well, you're going to be able to make a repair. It's pretty sweet. So let's just go ahead and we'll prep our wire first and stop running away from me. And then we'll get this hooked up. And I got to give a big shout out to my mom too because she totally hooked me up with these because I said, hey, I missed place mine and I was using a crappy pair and she's like, well, here's a little something for you. Pretty sweet. So this is some 16 gauge wire. And it always is hard to use little nubbins of wire, which I had just a little bit more to hold on to you. Okay. So I watched a lot of videos on this stuff too, just seeing what other people did. And a lot of people would said, you know, just take this and put it in here and put this one in here as well. And then just let it do its thing. Well, I don't really want that. I am still a big fan of, hey, let's twist some wires together. Let's get as good a connection as we can. I think that's the best method, right? Okay. So I've seen a couple channels not prep the wire with this stuff and and say, oh, yeah, that's good to go. But you can see that we're a piece of wire poke through because I didn't actually twist it together. My personal opinion is you want to twist this together when you're putting it together. Still a great easy connection, but you want to twist it. So if this was the wire that you were trying to fix that was broken, you know, just slide this connector down over it. And then you've got your exposed wire right here. So it works out, right? I'm going to just fan it out a little bit like so on both sides. And in that way, just take those, go right in there like that and then one to the left, one to the right. Okay. And then just make sure that the whole thing both of those sides are actually in your joint. It won't be hard to do really just get everything in your joint right there and we are hooked up. Okay, everything's there. And now if we just slide this over that and put that right in the middle, well, then we're hooked up and see that now all we got to do is put a little flame to it. So now either with a lighter or a heat gun, all you're going to want to do is start taking this and going around it. And you can see it shrinking up. The one thing I'm going to say is with the lighter, you're going to get a little bit of soot factor to it, right? That's not going to make a difference. It'll all kind of wipe off when it's done. Just make sure you get yourself a little bit of movement. But you can already see that solder is shrinking down. The whole thing as a matter of fact has shrunk down really nice. And then once you've done this, you're just going to give it some dry time. Alright, give it a couple minutes to cool down. This thing is going to be warm and I'm going to guarantee you that if you pull this apart right now, it's going to come apart and it's going to just stretch. Okay, so now that that's cooled down, we can actually just take that and you can wipe all that slid off of there. And you can see like what it's done, you can see the solder has went all through that whole little thing where it was just right there in the middle. Now it's expanded out to the edges. And now that's nice solid waterproof awesome connection with a lighter. And so then I'm sure you're asking how well did this work, Brian? Well, you know what, let's cut it off. We're actually just going to cut around right here, right here on the inside of these two adhesive pieces. We'll pull that piece of rubber out and we'll take a look and see what it actually did. Just pop that piece right there off of there and look at that. Yeah, for the most part, our whole twist everything we got twisted in there is completely coated and covered. Right, that's awesome, dude. And then just for giggles, let's go ahead and let's chop right in the middle of that. All right, so if you're looking at both of those, there definitely is a couple of pieces in the inside of that that are not hooked up there. But for the most part, all of that is hooked up. There's a couple strands there. I can I can pull some strands off, but really there's not many. It's pretty sweet, dude. So this right here in my opinion, it's something that anybody could do, right? So whether with the heat gun or a lighter, these things are quality. This is going to make a good repair. For the overall, I really do love them. I love how simple this is to use. I think you guys will enjoy them as well. I'll put a link to the description box if you're looking for something. Also big shout out to moms, right? She came through with these multi-purpose electrical pliers and I love them. I love having a nice new set. Nothing cuts while I like a brand new set of pliers. Right, I really hope you folks are enjoying the channel. If you can please subscribe to the channel, click the like button. I love to have you keep coming back. We're just trying to help. We hope we're doing that. Thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon.
