EZ-Lock and Armorgard: Must-See Features for Your Jobsite! #shorts
What happens here
With the standard drill and the appropriately sized standard drill bit, carefully create a pilot hole in the metal material at the desired location. Ensure the hole is drilled to the correct depth specified by the EZ-LOK insert manufacturer. After drilling, switch to the standard tap. Carefully align the tap with the drilled hole and begin to turn it clockwise, applying steady pressure. Rotate the tap a quarter to half turn, then back it off slightly (counter-clockwise) to break any chips, and continue this process until the hole is fully threaded. The goal is to create clean, precise internal threads that will securely hold the EZ-LOK insert. Ensure the hole is free of any metal shavings or debris before proceeding to the next step.
Goal: Create a precisely sized and threaded hole for the EZ-LOK insert.
Tools and materials
- Drill — Drilling the pilot hole and potentially driving the tap
- Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from metal chips and debris during drilling and tapping
- Standard Drill Bit — Drilling the initial pilot hole to the correct diameter and depth
- Standard Tap — Creating the internal threads within the drilled hole
- Work Gloves — Protecting hands from sharp metal edges, shavings, and cutting oil
- Cutting Oil — Lubricating the tap during the threading process to improve thread quality and extend tool life
- Metal Material N/A — The base material into which the EZ-LOK threaded insert will be installed
