What happens here
After the fascia boards are securely installed, the next step is to create the framework for the soffit. This involves installing horizontal pieces of lumber, often called 'soffit lookouts' or blocking, which extend from the wall framing (or a ledger board attached to the wall) to the inside face of the fascia board. These lookouts provide the necessary nailing surface for the soffit panels and ensure the soffit is level and properly sloped (if desired for drainage). They are typically spaced 16 to 24 inches on center. Use a level to ensure consistency.
Goal: Build the support structure for soffit panels
Tools and materials

- Nails — Securing the soffit framing to the wall and fascia
- Soffit Framing Lumber — Creating the horizontal support structure for the soffit panels
