excavation to stone grading
What happens here
A thick layer of 'larger structural stone' (crushed aggregate) is spread evenly over the installed geotextile fabric. This layer forms the primary structural base for the pavers and must be robust enough to support the weight of the pavers and anticipated traffic. Once spread, the stone is thoroughly compacted using a heavy-duty compaction machine, such as the Weber CF 2 plate compactor shown, to create a dense and stable foundation.
Goal: Create a deep, stable, and load-bearing structural base.
Tools and materials
- Compaction Machine Weber CF 2 — Compacting the structural stone layer for density and stability
- Shovel — Spreading and leveling the structural stone
- Wheelbarrow — Transporting the structural stone to the work area
- Larger Structural Stone — Creating the load-bearing structural base layer
