Epoxy Floor Clear Coat Application. Garage Floor Epoxy Instructions. DIY Concrete coatings.

This is Chris, the Idaho Painter, and this is the last part of our series on applying epoxy to your garage floor. And we've uh we were out here a day ago, and we actually applied the vinyl color flex and our second coat of epoxy. And now in this very last step, this is part five. We're actually applying Armor Seal and that's our clear coat that's going to go over our Color Flex to protect them and add a really nice hard coat to your floor. And we're going to show you that process right now. So, here we go. We're going to be applying this clear coat. And this is Armor Seal. And unlike the first two coats of epoxy where you have to, you know, box your part A and part B together and let them sweat for 30 minutes, this Armor seal, we are going to box them together. And there's no sweat, no sweat time, so we don't have to wait. We're going to box them together and start applying it. And we're just going to apply this just like we applied the first two coats of epoxy. And that's using just a quarterinch mohair nap. And we're one person's going to go around do the cutins all around the footings. Another person's going to roll the coat on and then we're going to be completely done. Want to make sure that we get our inch and a half tape along the edge cuz we don't want to get any of the clear coat on the the portion of the the garage or driveway that we're not doing. We want to have a nice clean line. And um a couple of tools you're going to want to have is just an extension pole with your roller. We're going to take our blower, blow it out, make sure there's no debris on the floor. And then we're going to be using just a bucket, a 4-in roller, 4-in nap, and a brush to do the cutins. So, here we go. Okay. Now, in boxing this armor seal together, some of the things you're going to need, simple little 5 in1 tools, great for opening up your uh gallon cans. We're going to be uh mixing up two A's, part A's to one part B of this Armor Seal. And I'm going to want to I got myself a attachment that I can attach my drill to mix this stuff and stir it up really good. Simple little tools that uh you'll be using. You want a nice clean empty bucket on the inside. You don't want any debris. We're getting ready to apply our clear coat. Once again, you want to have some rubber gloves. Don't want to get this stuff on my hands and cuz this stuff's pretty messy, hard to get off. We got ourselves a drop cloth setup right outside our garage that we're setting everything on. And that way you don't get any on your concrete when you're working your way out. You have something to step on outside there. And you want to just take and we're going to work from the back of the garage and work our way out to one of the doors. So you just choose a door. You're just going to work your way out of the answer. So, just a few tips when you're applying this clear coat is since it is clear, it's really hard to tell where you've gone, but you want to make sure that you get a good nice uh thin coat over the entire floor. So, you got to get like in the proper lighting and make sure you can look and see. You'll see where you go if you look close enough and get a nice reflection off the floor by looking at certain angles. But just make sure you get that clear coat over the whole floor and get a good layout. Another good simple tip is uh cuz we have have applied color flex down on this floor. Uh the previous coach, we actually decided to slide my 5gallon bucket and it weighs quite a bit cuz it has all the product in it. Now you don't want to slide that bucket on the floor cuz you could end up messing up your color chips. You could um scrape them off or something cuz they're they still got edges on them that are up in the air and could catch on the bucket. So make sure you just pick up your bucket and move it instead of sliding it. Okay, I'm done working on my last square. Just working out of the garage. Got our drop cloth here. just took my shoes off to make sure if I have any clear coat on the bottom of my shoes, I don't want to get it on the floor or I don't want to actually get it on my concrete outside the floor.
