Paper tape versus mesh tape. Are you using the right one? Let's get after it. Paper tape. Paper tape is much stronger than mesh tape. Perfect for inside corners because it has this crease already in it. It works with both kinds of mud, your all purpose mud and your fast setting mud. It lays down on your seam a little bit flatter and it's easier to feather out and it's usually cheaper than your mesh tape. There are some cons to paper tape though. It's a little bit steeper of a learning curve. You got to make sure that you get enough mud underneath there it sticks well, it doesn't bubble. Paper tape can bubble when air gets trapped behind it. Mud your seam at the center. Go down. Clean up your edges. Mesh tape lacks the strength of paper tape. Cracks are a little bit more visible. It's not creased in the middle for your inside corners and it's a little bit pricier than paper tape. It can only be used with hot mud. Some pros to mesh tape is that it sticks to your drywall. It's a little bit easier for beginners to use. You're not going to have the same bubbles that you will with paper tape and it holds up a lot better than paper tape in areas with a lot of moisture. Mesh tape works really well on patch jobs. You're going to use mesh tape, mix yourself up some hot mud. Just put it on your seam, it self adheres. Cut it off. Take some of your hot mud that you just mixed up and apply it over your tape. Use the right tape for the right job and you won't have any problems. Anyways, I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
