What happens here

With the bedding sand in place, the pre-selected border pavers are carefully laid onto the sand bed. The video shows workers kneeling, positioning each paver precisely, and then gently tapping it into place with a rubber mallet to ensure it is fully seated and level with adjacent pavers. The chosen pavers for this project are rectangular, dark-colored units that contrast with the main driveway pavers, creating a distinct and 'classy' border. A level is frequently used by the workers to check the alignment and evenness of the newly laid pavers.

Goal: Install the border pavers on the prepared bedding sand.

Tools and materials

  • Kneeling Pads — Protecting knees during extended periods of kneeling
  • Level — Continuously checking the level and pitch of the installed pavers
  • Paver Saw — Cutting pavers to fit around curves or irregular shapes
  • Rubber Mallet — Gently tapping pavers into the bedding sand for proper seating and levelness
  • Paver Stones — Creating the visual and structural border along the driveway
