What happens here

The first step in the repair process is to install wedge-style strainer bars. Position a strainer bar on the existing fence on either side of the damaged section. The strainer bar has a profile that matches the fence wire. Slide the fence wire into the bar. Drive the wedges into the bar with a hammer to secure and tension the wire. It's recommended to apply a little light oil to the wedges for smoother operation. As you drive a wedge, the one above it might loosen, so you'll need to work your way down and up the bar to ensure all wedges are tight. The wedges never directly touch the wire, preventing damage to the wire's surface.

Goal: Install wedge-style strainer bars on either side of the damaged fence section to prepare for re-tensioning. This involves inserting the wire into the bar and securing it with wedges.

these chains in what's called a strainer bar strainer bar is that right yeah wedge-style strainer wedge style strainer bar from strain right from farm fence solutions we're going to wedge style strain this there's one down here there's one down there and we're gonna ratchet this back tight so we'll cut out the bad spot right here right down there and we'll crimp in a new good spot now we could tie knots and do all that stuff but in the interest of time we're just going to use crimps are those strain right crimps they are okay so we'll use strain right crimps we'll show you guys exactly how all this goes and we're going to pull out the bad spot thanks josh for having us back to the stoney ridge farm i know our relationship started via just one comment on one of your fence videos in the beginning and it's developed into a real friendship and it's amazing the community that we've built in the agricultural fence world just with your content and the and the energy and effort you've put into it and i sure appreciate you having me down it's just nice we were walking walking fences a couple evenings ago and it's just amazing to see the difference in the last four or five years that we've been coming here and now there's you know 30-some mama cows up on the hill and they look beautiful and they're all in great shape and it's just so neat to be here and see all this come to life i just really appreciate being here so what we're going to do to start with because the poster on this side we've got to do this repair on the other side so that our chains aren't tied up in the post but uh we'll just get some stuff moved to the other side start bringing this fence together with the two sets of wedge boards we use what we call boundary strainers in the middle which are a chain walking device similar to just a plain wire puller but we're going to have to use extra chain to span that that gap i think it's about 50 feet here that we'll end up replacing so we'll start moving things the other side and get to work so the way that this wedge board works is you've got a profile on this side that matches the profile this side and it wants this to slip through around the wire then we use the wedges as a tensioning device drive those tight all the way down so there's no bolts nuts to lose there and it's just using a hammer and also the benefit of this is that the wedge never touches the wire so that wire sandwiched in there on the smooth interior and you don't do anything damage the…
