What happens here

Kevin introduces the "FanChief" control panel, which he personally designed. This panel connects to the fan via a UV-resistant Cat6 cable. It features a temperature probe, strategically placed at the ceiling, which automatically activates the fan. In winter mode, the fan will start at 90°F, then ramp up to 50% speed between 92°F and 100°F to push warm air down. The control panel is mounted temporarily using magnetic hangers to a steel beam, as the final location may change. All wiring for the controller is low voltage, ensuring safety.

Goal: Install and configure the automated control system for the fan.

Tools and materials

  • FanChief Control Panel AutoVent LLC — Automated control of the fan's operation based on temperature
  • Magnetic Hangers — Temporarily mounting the control panel to a steel beam
  • Temperature Probe — Detecting ambient air temperature at the ceiling to trigger fan operation
  • UV-resistant Cat6 Cable — Connecting the control panel to the fan for communication
