Don't Be Cheap | Terrible Painters Tape

[Music] foreign store challenge right here on pay Life TV so I'm Christy Idaho painter and I went out to my local dollar store and I've done some other videos about brushes and stuff you can see those videos too what's interesting is it's a dollar store but things aren't a dollar they're 1.25 so uh painters tape can you um buy painters tape and get it cheaper and be successful buying it from the dollar store so here's some interesting facts about the painter tape that we just bought this is tool bench Hardware painters tape and it's a blue painters tape doesn't say anything special it's just a tape then the color is blue I think this is going to be the closest comparison that you have because this is a blue tape but it's just a painters tape there's nothing special about it it's an inch and a half it's 16 meters long in this roll so here's inch and a half this is green frog tape it's a painters tape two a professional painters tape but it's it's got 55mm years battleland all right so now we're just going to do just a simple pricing comparison and just the simple facts about the tape so when I did this simple math you would have to buy three and a half rolls of this Dollar Store tape to get the same amount of tape as you would buy in a roll of orange frog tape and so the cost it would be 429 to get the same amount of this blue tape as it would to get um this amount of tape right here from frog tape which would be 3.99 so you're paying 30 cents more for this tape and then you're gonna have these little small individually wrapped rolls like this that you're going to be constantly opening them up and having to unwrap these things and get all this plastic off and it's gonna be making a mask to just begin your masking process now typically a dollar store tape like this is going to have a paper that's going to be a dollar store quality it's going to have an adhesive that's a dollar store quality it doesn't even tell you what the release time is on the tape I mean this is a three day release we know it and it specifies it right on the tape I know it's got a high quality paper on it that's not going to Splinter when I'm using it according to manufacturer's instructions that's within the three days this you really don't know what you're getting but really when it comes down to it it's just a simple math I mean don't try to skim don't try to save I'll tell you you know this is a production tape that's a design specifically for professional painters it does in Splinter it um performs absolutely amazing I don't know what this tape is going to do I haven't even tested it we'll give it a try but I'm not going to buy it just because it's more expensive so our dollar towards dollar store challenge today is about tapes you don't want to try to save on Dave's because you're just not going to say [Music] this is there might be a stupid question but that is for octave green right um was that it's probably green this is frog paper orange okay you called it did I call it gray yeah this is green frog tape frog tape green this is green or green these are green why is it it's like right in front of me it's like battle land let her ride feel the Glide feel the Sun enjoy the ride [Music]
