What happens here
This project provides a comprehensive guide on how to demolish an old concrete swimming pool and convert the area into a functional lawn. The process involves systematically breaking down the concrete structure using heavy machinery, meticulously removing all debris, backfilling the large excavation with structural fill, compacting the fill in layers to prevent future settlement, preparing the final grade with specialized equipment, installing fresh sod, and conducting a thorough site cleanup.

(8,808 characters)if you're just tuning in let me fill you in on what you've already missed this was a poured concrete swimming pool that we took a giant boulder to and started smashing up into small pieces then we broke that down and started loading and loading that up and hauling it away today we're gonna finish the process and take it all the way through to sod but not without its trials and tribulations in fact you see that red dump truck in the background that's the last time you'll see that that truck inside this video so let's just dive right into it and i swear to god i thought tim was going to do that i thought i was about to see that phone explode like tim was mad on sunday like when i say mad i mean mad monday was something else next level next level next level like honestly it was impressive i didn't know i didn't think he had it in him this is the last wall of the pool to come down so far tim has cleared out all of the concrete around it so hopefully it'll come out without too much effort this is a first for me as he pulls this wall down what we found was there was actually a cmu or a concrete masonry unit wall hiding behind the poured wall so i've been asked once or twice why i don't use a wrecking ball and the answer is pretty simple i've got old boulders lying around i don't have old wrecking balls lying around we like the fact that we can pick it up drop the boulder and instantly have the teeth to the bucket of the excavator available we're not tethering or tying the machine to a wrecking ball we have a little bit more flexibility it only takes a few hits with the boulder to create the stress fracture we need to be able to get the teeth in there to do the rest of the job he's got to be careful that material doesn't swing back into the cab all right if we had a development pop up here we sent the first loadout with our dump truck driver and waited and waited and waited he wasn't answering his phone and then tim finally left to go see if he was broke down somewhere along the route and uh didn't see him went down to the yard the truck was parked with the load we sent him out with and he was gone apparently his uh mom's house is on fire so he had a bail out yeah that's really really not good because now we gotta try and find a truck my some miracle tim's able to locate a quad axle truck that's able to come in the very same day and get to work but we've still got to figure out what's going on with our own dump truck so we hire the truck to haul dirt in and then we pay him to haul our concrete up so we're used to working over the back of our own truck which is kind of beat up and you know you get a little sloppy every now and then and it's not a big deal but this is not our truck it looks too new to scratch up and so if you watch real close you'll see that tim's got to be pretty careful with that thumb and he doesn't forget to pull that back so he doesn't nick the box we're also buying structural field to place into the pool so we don't want to haul any dirt out since we're paying to haul dirt in so we take a little bit extra time to make sure that the concrete goes out stays as clean as possible hey uh so what do you think of that machine though um well i nailed the light post the ones we were gonna save like within five minutes of being here oh no so then david was like just take them all man it's okay we were on the fence about it anyway i'm like okay oh dude that's not the way to start a job i know that well that big pusher blade you know and that's behind you and you think you're going around the corner all smooth you didn't you forgot well i got past it and then i came back i didn't forget i'm like i got plenty of room i was hanging tight to it yeah i thought i had it nope you didn't see it i see i would have i wouldn't have thought of that that bigger that that big butt and then with the rounded rounded tracks on it yeah and then uh just the weight it's not weighted the same as ours man as far as i can sit anywhere and not even feel sketched out this one you're up on the edge and you kind of whoa okay what's the center of gravity on this one really huh one of the things we don't do is leave anything behind everything comes out of the pool bottom some of the lines are easier to actually cut and remove by hand than just yank with the excavator what happens with those plastic pvc lines is sometimes you can pull so hard that you pull it in a place that you don't want it to disconnect so we do controlled cuts instead dudes i'm just going to tell you the next part of this video is one of my favorites if you guys got 4k in a big screen watch it there it's just kind of cool [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] everything comes out of the hole what we can't pick up with the equipment we do by hand [Music] we use compression compaction and thin lips to make sure there's no settlement down the road if we get too much compaction in this area they'll never be able to grow grass again but if we don't have enough it'll settle and look like a swimming pool one more time so we've got to get this stage just right and what we found works best is to go by feel we've done it enough times to know exactly how much to do this getting that truck back saved the day but i still want to find out what happened to our own truck [Music] and then sunday rolls around and then what's going on tim was trying to get a hold of our driver all day sunday started trying to get a hold of him early monday nothing nothing nothing nothing on a side note it rained on monday monday morning early for like 20 minutes barely got the ground wet still hadn't heard anything from the driver he was finally like you know what screw it we're gonna try and find a truck tim was mad on sunday like he was pissed on sunday by sunday night he was mad right i talked to him for a while on sunday yup dude was pissed monday like i said 1 30 still hadn't heard from the driver day was a bust we lost a whole day out on that site our pool demo did nothing on monday so for i think it's like four o'clock rolls around let's call it from the driver all right four o'clock late enough where we're not going to be able to do anything right i just i could see tim freaking out oh yeah he was well you know tim he worries he was starting to think something happened to him you know he started thinking he you know he got hurt or he was messed or something like that happened you know calls me at four o'clock-ish oh i didn't think we were working today because it rained and i swear to god i thought tim was gonna do that it i thought i was about to see that phone explode like tim was mad on sunday you knew like when i say mad i mean mad monday was something else though next level next level next level like i i i can't even describe how mad it was honestly it was impressive i didn't know i didn't think he had it in him i really didn't hey i have seen i could probably count the number of times i've seen somebody that mad on one hand [Music] all right we got the side here i was supposed to videotape that but i got a little preoccupied with the uh water line that that broke so uh we had a fun development on our pool demo we're supposed to get all these lines out of here cut them down and bury them a bit all the water is supposed to be off so we cut the one and the uh is definitely not off [Applause] so uh there it is pretty close on the grade here what do you think alex looked good to go a couple minor touch-ups alex brought us some extra manpower today we got aidan and evan come to help out with the sod to prep the black dirt facade tim first uses the cmp hydra bucket this has this is a bucket with a built-in harley rake in the back of it and in fact right here you can see him activating it tonight i'm feeling mean i'm feeling me tonight i'm feeling me gonna make another tonight i'm feeling mean i'm feeling me [Music] tonight i'm gonna pick myself a fight [Music] if some deserving dirtbag a black guy and if he swings in me then i'll bust that sucker asleep cause tonight i'm feeling pain i'm feeling me [Applause] i'm [Music] [Applause] doing some cleanup a little bit of cleanup it's 104 degrees out and that's just about hot enough to burn your hands on the chain as alex is going to find out in just a second you got some chain burns staying pretty hot [Music] it wasn't hot then burning me it's getting more frightening so we'll do one across all right guys well that's our project for today but we got another one coming up right down the pipeline where we tear out a pond and we're going to convert that to a front yard patio and let me get let you guys let me know do you like these job site videos or would you like me to do more tour reviews that's all we got god bless go get them and we'll see on another one guys
