DIY Wood Stains. Staining & Clear Coating Interior Wood Trim. How to stain wood windows.

What happens here

With the window trim prepared and surrounding surfaces masked, the wood stain is now applied. The video utilizes Sherwin Williams Sherwood BAC Wiping Stain (Clear Tint Base S64 T 50), chosen for its fast-drying properties (dries in 1 hour). The applicator, wearing latex gloves for protection, dips a lint-free cloth or rag directly into the stain. The stain is then wiped onto the window trim, ensuring it is worked thoroughly into all grooves, crevices, and flat surfaces to achieve deep penetration and even color. Immediate wiping of excess stain with a clean part of the cloth is crucial to prevent a patchy finish and allow the natural wood grain to remain visible. This application effectively conceals any remaining nicks and scratches from the prior sanding.

And you can see the green tape I put around there. That's frog tape. And that's to protect any tile or grout from getting any of the stain on it bleeding through. We don't want it to bleed through onto their white tile and discolor their tile. So that frog tape works really well with keeping your stain from bleeding through. And just you want to work it down into all these cracks. I'm going to wipe this whole window down with stain. And then I'm going to take a clean part of my cloth and then wipe off the excess. And I'll go through a couple of these little cloths. And you don't want this cloth to get soaking wet with stain where you can't wipe off the excess. And you can see how it hides um all the sanding and
