DIY EASY Faux Walls! Metallic Suede.

this case you had a hope here on live TV today I got another really cool project using bow arrow coatings I'm gonna be doing a metallic suede and this is something different than I've done in my other videos because in the other videos I'd be that like smooth wall or Sun Valley texture this is an orange peel texture but never installed metallic suede on an orange peel texture so it's kind of an experiment we're gonna see how it works it's this big window right here it's gonna be a nice accent to this room we painted this room did a video on how to paint a room fast and efficiently did it three colors ceilings walls and an accent color did it yesterday now we're here to install this bow arrow metallic suede absolutely love the products but you know we're going to experiment see how it goes and follow along with us in this video and see if it works and see if I like it so stay tuned alright so we're gonna get going with this metallics way just a few things I'm gonna be doing a random roll and a random trowel effect I'm gonna be using just a four inch microfiber roller I've already pre wetted it and I've got it ready for use it's a really good idea to pre wet it clean it with a rag make sure there's no lint that are going to come off of it into your metallic finish I've got a little arrow flex trial this is a trial that you use to install the tox way so it's got to be a flex trial if you're gonna get the proper effect so I'm gonna random roll it random trial it and you can just work right along and and you just don't want to do anything that's like consistent it's gonna be a random look when I'm installing my bar on coatings hitting it with my microfiber roller I don't get any a the product bleeding underneath so I use frog tape and then I use the mask you know two rows of frog tape out so I won't get anything because that roller you see as thicker than just one inch tape so I can run frog tape and then production tape or I run it's gonna have tape your choice so I'm just masking right along I'm gonna get this all ready to go okay ready to start installing our metallics right now I've got everything masked off ready to go I like just working out of like smaller areas like this working out of a pan I'm just going to dump some into a pan and really all we've got to use typically is I either use a for this a small area so I'm going to be using a four-inch microfiber roll are very important to use a microfiber roller but you if I'm not in larger areas they have power bathroom or something like that I'm going to use a 6 inch microfiber roller there are some areas down here that I can't get into with the trout I'm just going to be using a brush so I'll just brush it in and this is this is a x8 chinax brush so I'll probably get a softer bristle brush I gotta get down inside there the rest of it I can roll in trowel so here you go do you want to start from the top and I'm just going to work my way down and when I get up to the top all I want to do method is to just jam our metallic suede roller up into our masking and then it's going to be a random roll from them a jam into the corners roll Mars not quite blown enough I don't get those up here you want to have enough material that you can actually trowel so you can see I'm just working in small sections you don't wanna get too far ahead of yourself because the product dries really fast so kind of like just working in you maybe 2 foot square sections here not getting too far ahead rooms pretty warm so it dries it's getting fairly fast just random rule rad new trial it's kind of an interesting look once again I can the big two coats experimental process you can see the the peaks of all the the orange peel which is an interesting look decorative coatings that work with orange peel texture that make an orange peel wall you look nice expensive elegant without having to skin coat the entire wall I mean obviously I could skin coat this start from fresh the metallic suede would look even better and because it was typically designed to go on to smooth walls I've got my first coat of our metallic suede on random roll random trowel I did start messing around with a turf tool the first coat over here and really liked the effect of the turf tool left with the orange peel texture so on our first coat this kind of build in the texture a little bit second coat we're actually going to use the random roll this is our the random brush with a turf tool because I think that's going to give a really nice effect especially they go like a multi-dimensional fact when you stand back and look at it because it's not a smooth wall and it won't look like really like metallic suede so experimenting worked out well this is probably like a four inch square turf tools so we're going to wait for this is dry and then begin our second coat a random X pattern with the turqu tool is working out pretty cool I'm really liking you know the effect that it gives to the orange peel texture so it's a random roll and then it's a random X pattern with this curve tool kind of gives that basket-weave effects doesn't use very much product like this this whole big window right here it could have used you know just a cork on the bay window you don't have to be you know professional traders do this this is a great product for any do-it-yourselfer to make you know a wall look amazing this metallic suede you can stop in the middle of the wall and come back the next day and start working and it's not an issue so these tools right here if you're interested purchasing power products there the tools turf tools rollers and south are sold on paint life procom paint knife pro you can get the Bolero coatings and you can get these tools it's a water-based product tools clean up simply with water I'm almost done two coats they'll be all done and then we'll just pull our masking let it dry see how it looks to give it flexibility there's just so many things I couldn't get I kind of I think what the orange peel texture to things that looked really good I messed around with off-camera was the random roll like I can just random roll this and leave it like this now and I think that looks really nice that's a nice effect kind of just wanted that stre a you know a fact Selim decided to use the turf tool I was doing a larger wall like the custom only one at the inside here I was doing the outside there I probably would have chose to do the random roll but since this was just a small area just wanted to look more dramatic in this area so better you haven't we got our project our bolero metallic finish done with a random turf tool effect on it the customer did want it was Matheny journey she wanted this room a great room and she wanted I suggested doing this metallic finish to just add and have an effect of this big window and she said she just wanted her room to be very conservative and this is a very conservative very nice look so when over once again a orange peel texture looks very nice I'm not very happy with it the undercoat we under coated it with Miller premium never used it product before and actually performed very well I was the one that actually used it it was Lucas used it and he liked the product so we'd have to use it a lot more to you know have a real good you know recommendation or evaluation of the product we the color was the undercoat the color is flannel gray taking stuff all kinds of information on it the top coat the bolero coating I had this Tennant in a Cheryl Williams color knitting-needles sevens 7-6 7-2 so a nice great looking effect looks absolutely amazing I'm happy with it once again if you can if you interested in purchasing boner or product over on tools check them out paint lifepro they're available there
