Install Vertical Battens

What happens here

Measure the distance between the top and bottom 1x6 boards. Cut several 1x4 boards to this exact length to serve as vertical battens. Determine the desired spacing for your battens and mark their positions on the wall. For any battens that will overlap with electrical outlets or light switches, carefully mark and cut out the necessary openings using a drill and a jigsaw. Secure each vertical batten to the wall using a nail gun, ensuring they are plumb and evenly spaced.

Goal: Next, install the vertical 1x4 battens between the top and bottom horizontal boards, creating the grid pattern.
