What happens here

Spread the aggregate (crushed stone or gravel) over the installed filter fabric in multiple layers, known as lifts. Each lift should be approximately 3 to 4 inches thick. After spreading each layer, use the diesel-powered compactor to thoroughly compact the stone. This process is repeated for each subsequent lift until the desired depth for the patio base is achieved, ensuring a dense and unmoving foundation for the pavers.

Goal: Create a dense, stable aggregate base for the patio pavers.

Tools and materials

  • Aggregate — Creating the load-bearing base of the patio
  • Diesel-Powered Compactor Wacker Neuson — Compacting the aggregate layers
  • Rake — Leveling the aggregate before compaction
  • Shovel — Spreading the aggregate
